Be On The Lookout For Unlicensed Salesmen

Twin Cities Police Log Feb. 15-21:

 

• A resident in the 500 block of Oakdale Avenue reported there were four solicitors in the area who said that they had just started a new cleaning service. The caller said that they didn't have a permit with them. He reported the subjects were last seen on foot in the area, possibly on Sausalito Avenue. Contact was made with a Greenbrae man who was arrested on three outstanding warrants held by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 400 block of Tamalpais Drive reported an acquaintance just broke the window on her vehicle and took something out of it. He then drove off towards the freeway. She provided information that the subject lives in Marin City. Officers located the vehicle belonging to the involved subject in Marin City and attempted contact with negative results. An Auto Burglary report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A TCPA officer attempted to stop a subject on a bicycle in the area of the 40 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard when a foot pursuit ensued. The subject was located and detained at the rear of the Market Place and taken into custody for resisting arrest. A Rohnert Park man was booked into the Marin County Jail. Additionally, the bicycle the subject was riding was listed as a stolen bicycle.

• A Granite Bay resident reported his vehicle was broken while it was parked in the lot at the Corte Madera Town Center. A laptop computer, cellular phone and a credit card were taken and the credit card had already been used. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• TCPA Dispatch received a report from the Marin County Sheriff’s Communications Center that they had they received a hit on a stolen plate from the Tiburon camera. They advised the vehicle was now inbound towards Corte Madera from Tiburon on Paradise Drive. TCPA units assisted in a traffic stop on the northbound US 101 Lucky off-ramp. A subject was taken into custody without incident.

• A Mill Valley resident reported the theft of her purse from her shopping cart while she was in Trader Joe’s, located at 2052 Redwood Highway, in the Cost Plus Plaza. The theft was unwitnessed.

• A resident of the 200 block of Via La Paz reported sometime during the night, someone had removed items from his unlocked vehicle which was parked in front of his residence. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• A Greenbrae man was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant, held by the San Mateo Sheriff’s Office, after being contacted in the 200 block of Via La Paz. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 100 block of Lower Via Casitas reported her storage locker had been broken into sometime during the night. They were unable to determine the method of entry. Construction tools valued at $2,000 were taken. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 90 block of Corte Encanto reported his storage unit had been broken into sometime during the day. Entry gained by cutting the hasp and padlock. It was unknown what property was taken at time of report. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A Fairfax resident reported his vehicle’s left front tire was slashed while parked in the lot at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal.

• A resident of the 100 block of Holcomb Avenue reported his light blue Bianchi bicycle, valued at $1,500, was stolen from his open garage. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• The Town of Corte Madera Public Works Department reported vandalism to the lawn and pavement in Granada Park. An Officer responded and photos were taken to document the vandalism.

• A resident of the 40 block of Seawolf Passage reported her debit card was used fraudulently. An Identity Theft report was taken.

• A resident of the 200 block of Lower Via Casitas reported his vehicle had been broken into. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• A Greenbrae resident reported while she was shopping at Trader Joe’s, her purse containing her identification, credit cards, check book and other miscellaneous items was taken from her shopping cart. The theft was not witnessed. A Theft Report was taken for documentation.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of US 101 and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, several subjects were contacted in a vehicle and a small amount of Marijuana and alcohol were located in the vehicle. The Marijuana and alcohol were taken for destruction.

• A resident of the 100 block of Acacia Avenue reported she had received a call from her bank regarding a credit card fraud on her account. An Identity Theft report was taken and will be forwarded to the proper jurisdiction.

• A resident of the 40 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard reported furniture was taken from her room. A Burglary report was taken and there is further action pending.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in a lot of the Corte Madera Town Center, a San Rafael man was arrested for two warrants held by Marin County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• The front desk clerk for the Marin Suites, located at 45 Tamal Vista Blvd., reported there is a loud party in one of the rooms. He stated he has asked the occupants of the room to quiet down several times, but they are refusing. Contact made with a multiple subjects in the room. Officers dispersed the party. Any juveniles involved were released to the adults, per their parents. A Marin City juvenile male was arrested for Obstruction of Justice and for Providing False Information to a Peace Officer. He was booked at the Marin County Juvenile Hall.

• A resident of the 10 block of Seamast Passage reported his vehicle was accessed through an open window and an iPod and $30 in change was missing. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A business in the 1100 block of Magnolia Avenue reported they were provided a fraudulent money order by a person that is known to them. A Fraud report was taken and there is possible follow-up pending.

• A business in the Village Shopping center reported four male subjects had stolen a pair of brown Gucci aviator type sunglasses, valued at $250, and were last seen headed into Macy's. A witness advised she would be able to identify the subjects and there is video of the theft. It was later determined the theft was unwitnessed and they did not have the incident on video. TCPA Officers contacted the four subjects matching the given descriptions and all were able to provide receipts for their items.

• A Larkspur resident reported her vehicle was broken into while it was parked in the 2100 block of Redwood Highway via the rear passenger window being smashed. Taken was the car registration and sunglasses. An Auto Burglary report was taken for documentation.

• The Contra Costa County CHP Office notified TCPA that they had located a vehicle reported as stolen from the 300 building of Larkspur Landing Circle on Feb. 13, 2012. The vehicle is not damaged, stripped or burned, and was not missing any plates. There was no one in custody. The owner was notified and the vehicle was cleared from the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A Novato resident reported the theft of her vehicle while it was parked in the lot at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, located at 2500 Larkspur Landing Circle. The keys had been left in the vehicle and it was unlocked. A Vehicle Theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A Mill Valley resident reported entry was made to her locked vehicle by smashing the driver's side window while it was parked in a lot of a business in the 10 block of Fifer Avenue. Her purse was taken from the vehicle. An Auto Burglary Report was taken.

• A Richmond resident reported the theft of her vehicle from the Marin Airporter lot. An Auto Theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A resident of the 300 block of Golden Hind Passage reported the theft of a Garmin GPS and stand, a monitor for a back up camera and it’s stand and a change purse from his unlocked vehicle which was parked in front of his residence. No damage to the vehicle was located. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident of the 100 block of Larkspur Plaza Drive reported her boyfriend threw her on the couch, threatened her with a knife, and then left the residence. The involved subject was stopped in his vehicle in the 100 block of Morningside in San Anselmo. A San Anselmo man was arrested for Domestic Battery, Kidnap, and Brandishing a Knife. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 500 building of Old Quarry Road North reported the theft of items from his vehicle. He reported the car was locked when he returned to the vehicle today. Items taken included a package of ladies clothing and Raleigh sunglasses. The vehicle had been ransacked. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 300 building of Lincoln Village Circle reported entry was made to his unlocked vehicle and his Dell laptop, valued at approximately $600 was taken. A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation and there is possible follow-up pending.

• A resident of the 600 block of Chapman Drive reported both her and her husband’s unlocked vehicles had been entered sometime during the night. Taken from the vehicles were a laptop computer case containing personal paperwork, a GPS system, and other miscellaneous items.

• A business in the 500 block of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard reported they had been the victim of a burglary. There was no further information at the time of report. A Commercial Burglary report was initiated and there is follow-up pending.

• A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the lot of the 1100 building at Larkspur Landing. TCPA Officers made contact with a San Rafael man and a San Anselmo man in the vehicle. The San Rafael man was arrested for an outstanding warrant held by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 600 block of Chapman Drive reported three of her unlocked vehicles had been ransacked, sometime during the night. At the time of report, it appeared the only item taken was a $15 gift card.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 339 calls for service. This included two calls related to accidents with minor injuries and two property damage only accidents. There were five auto burglaries, one commercial burglary and four residential burglaries. There were no calls related to Driving while Intoxicated.
