Bicyclist Killed in Collision with Car in Inverness Park

The cyclist reportedly had his helmet cracked open and sustained major head injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is responding to a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist in the Inverness area of Marin County.

The collision was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Laurel Avenue, according to the CHP.

The cyclist's helmet was cracked open and he suffered major head injuries, Point Reyes Station resident Gail Coppinger, who was in the area at the time of the incident, told the Marin Independent Journal.

CHP officers were interviewing the driver involved in the collision. The man was riding with other cyclists when the collision occurred, according to the IJ.
