Burglars Stalking Shorebird Park

Twin Cities Police Log Feb. 1-7: Two cars were broken into at the park. Also, a warning to keep an eye on your bike. Six bicycles were reported stolen this week.

 

• A Corte Madera resident reported that her vehicle was broken into while parked at Shorebird Park. Taken were a laptop computer and a bag containing a portable hard drive, books, miscellaneous documents and $110 cash, for an approximate total loss of $760. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• A Larkspur resident reported the passenger window to her vehicle was broken and her purse was stolen while her vehicle was parked at Shorebird Park. An Auto Burglary report was taken to document the theft.

• A resident of the 200 block of Larkspur Plaza Drive reported his blue 21 speed GT mountain bicycle, valued at $400, was taken from the common area at the complex.

• A resident of the 300 block of Larkspur Plaza Drive reported the theft of her light blue Trek 8000 bicycle, valued at $1,700, from a locked bike rack. A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation.

• A Corte Madera resident reported that he had gotten off the ferry at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal and discovered his bicycle lock had been cut and the bicycle, a 21 speed, blue and green, Hard Rock bicycle, is missing.

• A resident of the 900 building at Larkspur Landing reported someone cut the cable lock and took his bicycle. The bicycle is a white Specialized Hybrid, valued at approximately $150.

• A San Rafael resident reported someone stole his red Rock Hopper mountain bicycle that was locked at the bike rack at the Marin Rowing Club. He reported someone had seen a “scruffy homeless looking" male subject with a green jacket riding the bicycle away. A Theft report was taken and there is possible follow-up pending.

• A resident of the 800 block of South Eliseo Drive reported someone removed his bicycle from the bed of his parked truck. The bicycle is a Specialized Stump Jumper Mountain Bike, valued at $4,000. A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation.

• A resident of the 40 block of Echo Avenue reported he is the victim of an identity theft. He stated a credit monitoring company notified him that someone withdrew $7,200 from his checking account. The suspects went into a Henderson, Nev., bank branch and used a counter check to withdraw the money. A Fraud report was taken and there is possible further investigation pending.

• A business in the 80 block of Casa Buena Drive reported they mailed an $875 personal money order to an address in Maricopa County, Ariz., for dental equipment. They have since discovered the money order was cashed and the eBay address which they had corresponded with had been shut down. They have not received the dental equipment. Suspect information has been developed by Wells Fargo bank. A Fraud report was taken and the case will be forwarded to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue, an Orangevale man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was booked at Marin County Jail.

• A Corte Madera resident reported her car was just hit by a single egg while driving southbound on Casa Buena Drive. She stated the egg came from a complex south of Marin Joe's. There is no permanent damage to her vehicle.

• A report was made, via a transfer from the California Highway Patrol, of a possible drunk driver. The caller stated he first saw the vehicle swerving all over the roadway on US 101 around Tiburon. He followed the driver as he exited the freeway and turned onto Paradise Drive. The caller said the vehicle drove up on to the sidewalk and the grass, before stopping in the Denny's lot. An Occidental man was arrested for Driving while Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• Officers responded to Denny’s Restaurant, located at 5839 Paradise Drive, on a report that a subject left without paying. Officers checked the area, but were initially unable to locate the subject. The caller advised that he did not wish any criminal action, but that he wanted the subject to be instructed to stay away from the restaurant. Officers later located the subject and he was admonished not to return to the restaurant.

• A Larkspur resident reported that his vehicle was vandalized while parked in a lot in the 2100 block of Redwood Highway. He advised the front and rear passenger tires were punctured.

• A resident of the 80 block of Dartmouth Drive reported someone took jewelry from her residence. Taken were a gold bracelet and gold pendant, unknown value at the time of report. A Residential Burglary report was taken and there is follow-up pending.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported she would like to file a report for credit card fraud. She reported there is video evidence of the involved suspect. A Fraud report was taken.

• A resident of the 20 block of Gregory Place reported she left her residence and when she returned, she found someone had entered the house through the kitchen window. Among the items determined to be missing is a jewelry cabinet. A Residential Burglary report was taken and there is follow-up pending.

• A resident in the 120 block of Sandpiper Circle reported he returned home and found his home was broken into. Entry had been made through the kitchen window. At the time of report, it was determined that coins were taken. A Residential Burglary report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A resident of the 1400 block of Casa Buena Drive reported their residence was entered during the night and jewelry was stolen. A Residential Burglary report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported a subject fled the store with stolen merchandise and had been caught by Shopping Center Security in the back lot. A Tiburon man was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for Commercial Burglary.

• TCPA received a call from a citizen in the area reporting he witnessed an employee of a business in the Village Shopping Center attempting to stop a female who was leaving the mall with a jacket that she reportedly took from the store. A Fairfax woman and a Novato woman were arrested for Commercial Burglary and both were booked at the Marin County Jail. Additional stolen property was located in their vehicle.

• The AT&T Store, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported an iPhone 4 was stolen and they have video footage of the responsible subject. A Theft report was taken and there is further action pending.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 300 calls for service. This included one hit and run accident and three property damage only accidents. There were two auto burglaries, two commercial burglaries and 4 residential burglaries. There were two calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in two arrests.
