Corte Madera Photographer Accused: Orange County Complaint Released

Carl Jewett Williams, 51, was arrested Dec. 19 at a residence in Corte Madera on a warrant issued in Orange County, Calif., according to Marin County sheriff's booking records.

A felony complaint from Southern California accuses a photographer arrested in Corte Madera of possession and control of child pornography in April 2008, according to prosecutors.

Carl Jewett Williams, 51, allegedly possessed and controlled pornography, "knowing that the matter depicted a person under the age of eighteen years personally engaging in and personally simulating sexual conduct," the complaint dated Dec. 21 states.

Reached by phone Friday afternoon, Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Walker of the Orange County D.A.'s Sexual Assault Unit provided a few details.

"The FBI submitted information to the attorney general," Walker said. "They brought it to me because he was returning to the United States."

Walker said she'd heard Williams had been taken into custody at an airport but she wasn't sure which one.

Williams was arrested Dec. 19 at a residence in Corte Madera on a warrant issued in Orange County, Calif., according to Marin County sheriff's booking records.

The felony complaint against Williams recommends bail of $100,000, but he was released from Marin County Jail on $50,000 bail Thursday, a booking sergeant at the jail said in a phone interview.

Sgt. Bill Hernandez of the Marin County Jail said the Sheriff's Department could not release booking photos of individuals no longer in custody.

Williams could not be reached to comment for this report. Booking records stated his address is in Corte Madera.
