Crash Shuts Down Part Of Northbound 101

Driver suffers minor injuries after his car flips over, then slides 150 feet on its roof.

Novato's Brandon James Bivens, 21, lost control of his 1995 Acura Integra on Monday at 10:10 a.m. in a dramatic crash on northbound US-101, north of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

The crash shut down two lanes on northbound 101 for 70 minutes.

Bivens was driving at 85 mph as he crested CalPark Hill, then lost control, swerving across all lanes before colliding with the concrete jersey wall. This collision caused the Acura to overturn and continue to slide on its roof before coming to rest blocking the Nos. 4 and 5 lanes.

Bivens was transported to Kaiser Terra Linda Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

CHP officers determined Bivens’ Acura left more than 400 feet of tire friction marks as the Acura slid sideways, out of control. Additionally, the Acura left more than 150 feet of scrape marks as the Acura slid on its roof.

Bivens is being charged with reckless driving, no insurance, and modified emissions.
