Do You Know Where Your Grandchild Is? It Could Be A Scam

A Corte Madera resident reported that she received a telephone call from a person claiming to be her grandson stating he was in jail in Chicago and needed money for bail. When she asked questions about the Police Department and asked for a phone number, the subject hung up. Her grandson is actually in France and is fine. Documentation provided as this is a current on-going scam tactic.

Twin CIties Police Officers responded to Kaiser Hospital on a report that they had a Larkspur couple there that had been involved in a domestic dispute. They reported that a woman had hit her boyfriend in the face, injuring her own hand and giving him a fat lip. A Larkspur woman was arrested for Domestic Battery and booked into the Marin County Jail.

A San Rafael resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in the Corte Madera Town Center, the locked trunk was entered via unknown means and a laptop computer and other items were taken. Exact amount of the loss was not determined at the time of report.

A business in the Bon Air Shopping Center reported that they discovered in May, a credit card was used to make a fraudulent $1,900 purchase. A report was taken and there is further action pending.

A student at Redwood High School reported the theft of a grey 27 speed Trek mountain bike from the bike rack. The value of the bicycle was not known.

A Sausalito resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in the Corte Madera Town Center, someone stole his surfboard, valued at $200, from the roof of his vehicle. 

A San Rafael resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in the lot at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, it was entered via the driver’s side door and the stereo, valued at $500, was stolen. An Auto Burglary report was taken. A second vehicle was also determined to have been broken into in the Ferry Terminal lot. The stereo, a 32GB Apple iPod and a Sony PSP game, for a total loss of $505, were takenin that case.

A Larkspur resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in the Village Shopping Center, in the area of Talbot’s, it was entered via unknown means. She reported that her iPad and iPhone were stolen for a loss of approximately $600. An Auto Burglary report was taken for documentation.

Graffiti vandalism was reported to a backflow device box in the area of Skylark Drive and Magnolia Avenue. Photographs were taken of the vandalism for documentation.

TCPD Units responded to the 10 block of Pixley Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had collided with a pole, almost knocking the pole over. A Corte Madera woman was arrested for Driving while Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked at the Marin County Jail.

TCPD received a report from the Davis Police Department concerning the fraudulent use of a credit card belonging to one of their residents at the Apple Store in the Village Shopping Center. The credit card was used to make $14,000 in fraudulent purchases. A report was taken and there is a follow-up investigation pending.

Officers responded to the 60 block of Industrial way for a State Parole Agent requesting assistance with taking a parolee into custody. Additionally, a homeless woman was arrested for an outstanding Marin County warrant.

A San Rafael resident reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the Marin Country Mart shopping center, from the area of the Marin Brewing Company parking lot, sometime after midnight. The vehicle had already been located and towed by the Richmond Police Department. A Vehicle Theft report was taken and he was referred to the Richmond Police Department for the recovery of his vehicle.

A resident in the 50 block of Mohawk Avenue reported his iPod and a Bluetooth device, total loss of $385, were taken from his unlocked vehicle.

A resident in the 90 block of La Cuesta Drive reported that he heard a vehicle speed away from his residence and then discovered that his grey and black Norco 420 single speed bicycle valued at $1,400 had been stolen from the open garage. 

A resident in the 10 block of Mohave Court reported that a custom built bicycle, valued at $4,000, was stolen from his open garage. 

Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. and U.S. 101, a Tiburon female juvenile was arrested for Possession of False Government Identification and being a Minor in Possession of Alcohol. She was released on a citation at the scene to a responsible adult after contact was made with a parent.

A San Francisco man was arrested for an outstanding Marin County Warrant after being located in the 500 block of Tamalpais Drive. During a search of his person, narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia were located. In addition to the Warrant, he was booked into the Marin County Jail on charges of Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics for Sale and Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia. There is additional investigation in progress.

A Sacramento area woman reported that her purse had been stolen when she left it in front of her door at the Marin Suites, 45 Tamal Vista Blvd. It was later turned into the office, at which time she discovered that $300 cash was missing. 

Officers responded to the 20 block of Chanticleer Avenue for a husband who was reporting that his wife had hit him numerous times, on the head and in the face, and had bit him on the arm. A Larkspur woman was arrested for Domestic Battery and booked at the Marin County Jail.

A resident in the 140 block of Madrone Avenue reported graffiti vandalism on the side of their house facing the street. The vandalism was photographed for documentation. Graffiti vandalism was also located on a residence in the 130 block of Madrone Avenue and was photographed for documentation.

A Larkspur resident reported that she had locked up her bicycle in the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue. When she returned, she found the lock had been cut and the bicycle was gone. The bicycle was valued at $500.

A Greenbrae resident reported that within the past 15-20 minutes, his vehicle, a bright green Nissan king cab pick-up, was stolen from the area of Barnes and Noble in the Corte Madera Town Center. A Vehicle Theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

Loss Prevention Agents for Macy’s in the Village Shopping Center reported they had a subject in custody for a theft of merchandise. A Richmond man was arrested for Shoplifting and released on a citation at the scene. Loss was a $170 pair of jeans.

A Corte Madera resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in the area of the Barnes and Noble store in the Corte Madera Town Center, the catalytic converter was stolen. Loss is approximately $500.

A resident in the 900 block of Via Casitas reported that during a child exchange, her ex-boyfriend pushed her in front of their four-year-old daughter. A report was taken and forwarded to the Marin County District Attorney’s Office for possible filing of a charge of Domestic Battery.

A resident in the 200 block of Via Casitas reported that his Fastrak had been stolen and used for $66 worth of tolls. He was unsure of the exact date, time and location of the theft. 

After being located in an occupied vehicle in the 60 block of Industrial Way, a Mill Valley man was arrested for Possession of Narcotics for Sale, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation. A homeless woman who was also in the vehicle was arrested for Possession of Narcotics for sale, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia. Both were booked at the Marin County Jail.

TCPD Units responded to the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, located on Larkspur Landing Circle, for a report of a guest who was disturbing another guest by pounding on the door and making racial comments. They also advised that they had requested her to leave the hotel, but she is refusing to do so. Upon arrival, Officers determined that the involved subject, a Texas woman, had an outstanding Warrant held by the San Francisco Police Department. She was arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail.

Pursuant to a traffic stop on Redwood Highway in the area of Shorebird Park, an Oakland man was arrested for an outstanding warrant issued by Alameda County. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

During this one week time period, the Twin Cities Police Department had 343 calls for service. This included one hit and run accident and six property damage only accidents. There were four auto burglaries and one residential burglary. There was one call related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in one arrest.
