Downed Transformer Blacks Out Corte Madera

PG&E rushing to restore power to Twin Cities customers during storm.

The wind subsided and the sun even came out for awhile, but the chaos continued during the calm. A damaged transformer knocked out power to large parts of Corte Madera on Sunday afternoon between 3:50-6:30 p.m.

The transformer near 15 Stetson in Corte Madera's Chapman area went down and the pole fell into a tree. Police could not confirm if the outage was a direct result of the storm.

PG&E reported on its website that close to 500 Corte Madera residents were affected by the outage. PG&E also reported that up to 50 residents in both Larkspur and Kentfield suffered outages.

There were still reports of power outages in the Montecito area of Corte Madera and in Larkpsur late Sunday night.

There were no emergencies or accidents reported to Twin Cities Police as a direct result of the accident. When power was restored, however, a fire was reported at 45 Deer Run in Corte Madera when the resident's pool equipment caught fire and damaged the pool house, according to police.

Rain and possible thunderstorms were projected to continue through Monday with highs in the 50s.
