Early-Morning Blaze Erupts in Kentfield

The residents of a Kent Woodlands home escaped a frightening early-morning scene when their home caught on fire.

Fire crews from neighboring towns answered the call of a two-alarm fire just past 2:10 a.m. Monday. The fire was brought under control in half an hour, according to reports from Larkspur Fire personnel, who assisted in battling the blaze.

Kentfield Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, although an outdoor grill suspected to have played a part, according to a report in the Marin IJ. Fire crews arrived to see a cabana, garage, breezeway and the attic of the house on fire.

Two cars were damaged in the garage.

Three residents reportedly fled to a neighbor's home to call the fire department. Crews from Larkspur, Corte Madera, San Rafael, Ross Valley and Mill Valley arrived to aid Kentfield crews.
