Neighbors in Kentfield and Kent Woodlands should be on alert Saturday for a community evacuation drill put on by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the Kentfield Fire Protection District and the Kent Woodlands Property Owners Association.
This preparedness exercise will begin at 9 a.m. and will affect the 200, 300 & 400 blocks of Crown Road, the 100 block of Idlewood above Crown, Ridgecrest, Blue Ridge, Coronet and the upper sections of Evergreen and Rancheria Roads. The drill is expected to take about one hour and will involve limited traffic delays, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.
Fire District and Sheriff’s Office personnel will coordinate the voluntary evacuation and will direct evacuees to the staging area at the College of Marin parking lot.
"The Kent Woodlands neighborhood is susceptible to fire danger because many of the properties are located in the Wildland-Urban Interface Zone, an area where wildland fires can threaten residential areas," according to Marin County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Barry Heying.
The Kent Woodlands Property Owners Association has a neighborhood evacuation map on its website at: http://kwpoa.com.
