Hit-And-Run Part Of Labor Day's Bad Driver List

The California Highway Patrol arrest a Tiburon man after an accident near the Tamalpais Drive offramp in Corte Madera.

The California Highway Patrol got a quick start to the Labor Day Weekend DUI crackdown with a hit-and-run reported Friday near the Tamalpais Drive offramp in Corte Madera.

The incident occured at about 8:30 p.m., less than 3 hours after the start of the maximum enforcement period, which continued through Monday.

Marin CHP officers received a call of a hit and run traffic collision involving a Jeep Wrangler and a Mazda minivan on southbound US 101 near the Tamalpais offramp, possibly involving an intoxicated driver who fled the scene. Within a
few minutes, Tiburon police officers assisted by responding to the suspected driver’s residence in Tiburon and detaining him for CHP.

CHP Officers arrested and booked Timothy Fitzgerald, age 43 of Tiburon for fleeing the scene of a collision, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol of over .08%.
