Local Man Robbed At Knifepoint

Twin Cities Crime Log, Oct. 26-Nov. 1: Woman reports the the theft of $30,000 in jewelry.

• A resident of the 800 block of Meadowsweet Drive reported via 9-1-1 he was just robbed at knife point fronting the area of his residence by four subjects who left in a white four door sedan. Taken were prescription medications, a wallet, a laptop and an iPhone. There is possible involved suspect information and there is further investigation pending.

• Officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Meadowsweet Drive on the report by a resident that after a verbal argument, she asked her boyfriend to leave and he refused. TWin Cities Police Units made contact the subjects and a Corte Madera female was arrested for Domestic Battery. She was booked at the Marin County Jail. The male victim refused medical treatment.

• A resident in the 170 block of Altura Way reported that she looked in her jewelry box this morning and discovered it was empty. She reported that she has had workers in and out of the house several times recently. She last looked into the unlocked jewelry box about two months ago. Total loss is approximately $30,000. A Residential Burglary report was taken to document the theft and there is possible follow-up pending.

• A resident of the 400 block of Alexander Avenue reported her Social Security number was used at an unknown location. She was notified by her accountant someone had used her Social Security number which was detected when her tax form was filed. She has also contacted the California Attorney General's Office Identity Theft Department and had her bank accounts flagged. Documentation was provided for the incident.

• An employee for a business in the 40 block of Industrial Way reported as he was doing a walk-through of the property, he found a vehicle on the premise without wheels. It was determined to be a stolen vehicle which had been reported to TCPD on Oct. 25, 2011, taken from the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal. The registered owner was contacted and the vehicle was released back to the owner.

• A San Rafael resident called from her home and reported the theft of her purse from her vehicle while it was parked at Marin Primary, 20 Magnolia Ave. There is no damage to her vehicle so she thinks it was unlocked. She advised that she has cancelled her
credit cards. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the Bon Air Shopping Center, a TCPD Officer contacted a Greenbrae male and a San Rafael female. They were warned for Possession of Marijuana in a Vehicle and a small amount of marijuana was seized for destruction. The male subject was also advised that his driver’s license is suspended.

• The TCPD School Resource Officer took a report for threats via the Internet. Two juvenile female Redwood High School Students were contacted, as well as their parents. The situation will be handled by mediation through the school; the report is for documentation only at this time.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom advised she wished to file an embezzlement case against a Napa female who is no longer an employee of the store. A report was taken and there will be follow-up pending with the Marin County District Attorney’s Office.

• A caller reported via 9-1-1 that he was following a vehicle and the driver is drinking from a whiskey bottle. The caller advised the vehicle was last seen turning left onto Larkspur Landing Circle from the parking lot of the Marin Country Mart. The vehicle was located in a parking lot at the Century Theaters. A San Anselmo man was arrested for Driving while Under the Influence of Alcohol and was booked into the Marin County Jail

• A caller reported credit cards on the ground near a vehicle parked in the lot at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal. The TCPD Officer located the cards and a phone number for the owner of the cards. They were determined to belong to a San Francisco resident and she was contacted by telephone. She advised the property should have been inside her vehicle which was also parked in the Ferry Terminal lot. The vehicle was located and determined to have been ransacked. The stereo and possibly an amplifier were missing. An Auto Burglary report was taken and there is follow-up pending with an inventory list from the victim.

• A Corte Madera resident reported via 9-1-1 that when she was in the area of Tamalpias Drive and Sausalito Street, two females stole her purse. She advised they were two young females. It was determined that the incident happened approximately thirty minutes prior to the time of the report. She advised they were both armed with knives, which they held to her throat, and they slapped her several times and threatened to kill her. The suspects took her purse and were last seen leaving the area on foot. A Robbery report was taken and there is further investigation pending.

• A juvenile male Fairfax resident reported the theft of an iPhone 3 GS while he was at San Andreas High School, located at 599 William Ave. The phone is valued at approximately $400. Documentation for the theft was provided.

• A resident of the 40 block of Stetson Avenue reported her residence had been entered. Taken were two laptops and three cameras. The door was found unlocked and drawers had been rifled through. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A Larkspur resident reported that while she was in the Corte Madera Town Center, her wallet was taken. The wallet contained her driver’s license, five credit cards, an unknown amount of cash, and other miscellaneous items. The theft was not witnessed. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• Loss Prevention Agents for the Nordstrom store located in the Village Shopping Center reported they have a subject in custody for the theft of merchandise valued at $1,022.10. A Benicia woman was arrested for Grand Theft and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• An employee of Safeway, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported a female subject in custody for the theft of merchandise worth approximately $25. A Corte Madera female was arrested for Shoplifting and released on a citation.

• A TCPD Officer contacted a San Rafael Juvenile male and a San Anselmo juvenile male on foot in the area of Locust Avenue and King Street. The San Rafael juvenile male was arrested for Possession of Nitrous Oxide for Inhalation and released on a citation to a parent. The other subject was also released to a parent.

• Residents in the 200 block of Birch Avenue reported three bicycles were taken from their open garage. One is a 2010 gray Fisher 29" full suspension Pro, white with green lettering, mountain bike valued at $3,400. Another is a 2007 Specialized Roubaix black road bike, with a carbon fiber frame, valued at $1,700. The third is a 2007 Novara blue and white mountain bike, valued at $1,100. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 300 building of Old Quarry Road North reported his motorcycle was stolen from the area of his residence. A Vehicle Theft report was taken and the motorcycle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A resident in the 100 block of Willow Avenue reported via 9-1-1 that he woke up and saw a subject in his backyard. He could not give a description. The Officer determined the next door neighbor was having a fire in a fire pit and was in her neighbor's yard chasing a few live embers that went over the fence.

• A business in the Village Shopping Center reported receiving several counterfeit $20 bills over the past month, totaling $80. Documentation was provided and the bills were seized to be forwarded to the Secret Service.

• A business in the 70 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard called to report a possible shoplifting incident. They reported a female went into a fitting room with many items while carrying a canvas bag. When the woman came out, the clerk asked to check her bag. The subject then ran out of the store and got into a small waiting vehicle and left the area. They have not been able to determine what was taken at this time, but possibly a jacket is missing.

• Pursuant to being contacted by the TCPD School Resource Officer on foot in the area of Tamal Plaza and Tamal Vista Boulevard, a Tiburon juvenile male and a Greenbrae juvenile male were reprimanded and released back to Redwood High School for Minor in Possession of Tobacco violations.

• An employee of the AT&T Store in the Corte Madera Town Center reported two iPad’s were purchased by the same subject using a fraudulent credit card over the past week. There is video of the subject making the purchase. A Fraud report was taken and there is further investigation pending.

• A resident in the 100 block of Edison Avenue reported theft of mail between Oct. 1-8. Unknown subjects took checks from the mailbox and attempted to cash them. She has closed her account so there will not be access. The incident was documented and she was referred to the U.S. Postal Inspector’s Office.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop on East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in the area of the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, a Petaluma female was arrested for an outstanding warrant, held by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, for a Probation violation. She was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A driver with Northbay Taxi advised he was attempting to take a male subject home in the 1500 block of Casa Buena Drive, but the subject is now passed out in the back seat of the cab. The Corte Madera Fire Department responded for a medical checkout. A Corte Madera man was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and transported to the Marin General Hospital for additional medical clearance. Due his level of intoxication, he was kept at the hospital overnight for observation.

• A business in San Rafael reported that a Port-a-Potty was stolen from the area of the 10 block of Golden Hind Passage. The total loss is approximately $900. The number on the Port-a-Potty and trailer is #2. Documentation for the theft was provided.

• A resident of the 700 block of Meadowsweet Drive reported she took out approximately $4,066 out of her bank account to buy a car and sent two money orders, via a Western Union, to an account in St. Louis and Cleveland. As of yet, she hasn't received the vehicle she was promised and believes the transaction to be a scam. Documentation was provided for the incident and the victim will be following up with her bank.

• A resident in the 40 block of Via Barranca reported sometime during the night, someone took a statue from her yard and threw it into her tree. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

• A Tiburon resident reported someone broke into her son's locker at Redwood High School and stole his iPhone. She advised they were able to track it to an apartment complex in Greenbrae with the security feature. The cell phone was valued at $200. There is further action pending.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 304 calls for service. This included one call related to accidents with minor injuries, four hit and run accidents and five property damage only accidents. There was one auto burglary and three residential burglaries. There were two calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in one arrest.
