Man Suspected Of Taking Photos Of Teen Girl On Bike Path

Dog allegedly attacks 5-year-old; Man steals $70 in baby bibs; Corte Madera man arrested for possession of drugs and firearm.

The following incidents were reported by the Twin Cities Police between August 22-28, 2012. Suspects are innocent unless proven guilty. Arrests do not necessarily equal convictions.

• A Corte Madera resident reported her 13 year old daughter and a friend were walking home on the bike path near William Avenue, towards King Street, and a male subject was taking pictures of them with his cell phone. She stated the subject had also done this previously, but she did not report it. Twin Cities Police Officers responded and located the subject, a San Rafael man. A report was taken to document the incident.

• A resident of the 100 block of Bretano Way reported while they were in the area of Eliseo Drive and North Almenar, her 5 year old son was bitten by a dog on the side of his cheek, knee and thigh and the dog then dragged the child around. The child has been treated by a doctor. She advised she got the phone number off the dog's tags and a message was left for the dog owner, with whom she has had contact. The Marin Humane Society was contacted and they responded and took custody of the dog.  A Dog Bite report was taken and there is follow up pending.

• A Security Officer for The Village Shopping Center reported a male subject had taken children's clothing from a store in the center. Officers responded and were unable to locate the subject. The store was contacted and was unable to provide any further suspect information. It was determined that approximately $70 in bibs had been taken. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A Greenbrae resident reported she had seen a female sleeping in a vehicle in the front parking lot of the Golden Poppy Pre-School, located at 50 El Camino Ave. She said she had attempted to wake the subject and she was either under the influence, or had an altered level of consciousness. The Corte Madera Fire Department responded for a medical check and it was determined the subject was intoxicated. A San Rafael woman was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• An employee of Bed, Bath and Beyond, located in the Marin Country Mart shopping center, reported a female customer grabbed one of their other employees and tried to pull her to a different area of the store. The dispute was over a price discrepancy and the employee now wished to press charges for the assault. The caller advised the involved subject left with a male subject in a vehicle. TCPA Officers responded and located the vehicle. The victim was transported to the area of the stop and positively identified the subject. A Suisun City woman was arrested for Assault/Battery. She was released on a Misdemeanor citation.

• Twin Cities Police Officers responded to a residence in the 90 block of Wilson Way on a report of an alarm activation at the residence. It was determined a burglary had occurred. No signs of forced entry were located. A television, valued at $569, was taken. A Residential Burglary report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A resident of the 900 block of Magnolia Avenue reported her bike, a red and black Avalanche GT mountain bike, was stolen from a bike rack on her vehicle while it was parked in the area of her residence. The incident was documented.

• A resident of the 100 block of Lower Via Casitas reported the registration sticker had been stolen from his vehicle’s license plate. A manager at the building advised she had seen a vehicle that had an expired registration tab, but now the registration tab was current. An officer matched the serial number for the caller’s registration tabs with the vehicle the manager mentioned. A Theft report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A Corte Madera resident reported her son's red, black and white Schwinn Moab mountain bike had been taken while it was parked in the area of the Mt. Tam Racquet Club, located at 1 Larkspur Plaza Drive. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident in the 30 block of Heather Way reported she heard a male subject yelling profanities in the area and she wasn't sure if there was a second male subject involved. She also heard a loud sound, possibly from a skateboard or a shopping cart being dragged. Contact was made with Larkspur man who was determined to have an outstanding Warrant from the state of Nevada. He was arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A San Rafael resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in a lot at the Corte Madera Town Center, the rear window was smashed. He advised nothing appeared to be missing. A report was taken for an attempted Auto Burglary.

• A Mill Valley resident reported the fraudulent use of her credit cards at Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center. The loss is approximately $400 with two cards being used. She reported that her wallet was stolen and that she has suspect information. A Fraud report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A San Rafael resident reported he had locked his bicycle at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal and now discovered it was stolen. The bicycle is a gray and black Fuji Monterey 21 speed, valued at $500. A Theft report was taken.

• A Richmond resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in a lot in the 100 block of Nellen Avenue, it was broken into via the left passenger window being smashed out. He was unsure if anything had been taken. Documentation was provided for the incident.

• San Rafael residents reported while their vehicle was parked in a lot at 500 Larkspur Landing Circle, the driver’s side rear window was smashed. They advised it appeared nothing was missing. Documentation was provided for the incident.

• While providing security at a dance at Redwood High School, TCPA Officers contacted a Tiburon juvenile male, a Tiburon juvenile female, a Greenbrae juvenile female and a Greenbrae juvenile male who were determined to be intoxicated. The matter was handled by the school and they were released to parents.

• A Vallejo resident reported while his vehicle was parked in a lot at the Corte Madera Town Center, the driver’s side front window was smashed. A camelback backpack with a car key, a paper notebook and a Nook reader were taken. The total loss is approximately $300. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• Pursuant to checking an occupied vehicle parked in the lot of an unoccupied business in the 100 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard, a Greenbrae man was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Under One Ounce. He was released on a citation.

• A resident of the 10 block of Echo Place reported three charges were made to the same name on his credit card at a location on the East Coast. A Fraud report was taken.

• A Kentfield resident reported his vehicle was stolen out of the parking lot of the Mt. Tam Racquet Club, located at 1 Larkspur Plaza Drive. The keys were with the vehicle and the windows were open. Inside the vehicle were the keys, his cell phone, cash, a FastTrak transponder, and identification. An Auto Theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A resident of Sonoma reported that while her vehicle was parked in the lot of the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, the rear plate was stolen. A Theft report was taken and the license plate number was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

• An employee of the Safeway store, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported a female subject was in the store with a basket full of groceries that were covered up with toilet paper and they believed she was going to commit a theft. Officers stood by. He later called back to advise they were in the process of apprehending the subject and requested officers respond. A Sausalito woman was arrested for Shoplifting. She was released on a citation.

• A caller reported a female subject was lying face down and appeared intoxicated in the area of the 2300 block of Larkspur Landing Circle. Officers located a Larkspur woman who was found to be intoxicated. She was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and after being medically cleared at the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room, she was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop at East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Larkspur Landing Circle, a San Rafael man was determined to be driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A Greenbrae resident reported his son's bicycle was taken from in front of the Mt. Tam Racquet Club, located at 1 Larkspur Plaza Drive. He stated it was locked up and the chain was probably cut. The bicycle is a black and white Specialized Hard Rock 21 speed valued at approximately $500. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Tamalpais Drive and Sanford Street, a Corte Madera man was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm in a Vehicle, Possession of over 20.5 grams of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of a hypodermic needle. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• Pursuant to receiving a mailed police report from the Geneva, NY, Police Department, a Fraud report was taken for the fraudulent to purchase of two iPhones at the Apple Store, located in the Village Shopping Center. There is follow-up pending.

• The property manager for the Larkspur Landing Office Complex reported she had just witnessed a bike theft in progress. She advised when she confronted the man, he took off leaving the bike with the cable almost completely cut. The subject was last seen going up the hill toward the CalPark Tunnel. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subject. An Attempted Theft report was taken and there is further investigation pending. Later, a San Francisco resident reported that her bicycle, a gray men's Marin 21 speed road bicycle, valued at approximately $500, was taken from the same area. A Theft report was taken.

• An employee of Safeway, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported a theft of merchandise had just occurred. There were a male and a female subject involved. They left the area in a vehicle which was last seen eastbound on Tamalpais Drive towards U.S. 101. Deputies from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office located and detained the vehicle and three occupants at Drake Avenue and Donahue Drive in Marin City. The driver and female passenger were positively identified as the persons involved in the theft. The Mill Valley Police Department arrived at the scene as their agency was investigating a similar crime at the Safeway in Mill Valley with the same subjects and vehicle being involved. A Rohnert Park man was arrested by M.V.P.D. and transported to their Department. TCPA will be filing a complaint with the Marin County District Attorney’s Office for Commercial Burglary against the male subject.  The other two subjects in the vehicle were identified and released without charges at this time.

• The owner of a business in the 1300 block of South Eliseo Drive reported seven juveniles were smoking and possibly drinking out on the dock area. TCPA Officers contacted six subjects who were determined not to be juveniles. They were warned regarding open containers and were sent from the area.

• TCPA Officers responded to the 900 block of Magnolia Avenue on multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding a collision. The Officers were flagged down by a citizen who saw a black vehicle with a flat tire, headed toward the College of Marin with another vehicle following it. Officers located the vehicle and driver at his residence in the 20 block of Karl Avenue in San Anselmo. Medical assistance was requested for the driver and after treatment at the scene; he was released to the Officers. A San Anselmo man was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and after medical clearance at the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room, he was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A San Rafael resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in the 40 block of Mohawk Avenue, it was vandalized. She said the left side of the car was keyed, and both left side tires were flattened. The damage is estimated at approximately $2,000. A report was taken to document the Vandalism.

• A Corte Madera resident reported her daughter's bicycle was stolen while it was parked at the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal. The bicycle is a blue Jamis Commuter, valued at approximately $450 and had been locked with a cable. A report was taken to document the theft.

During this one week time period, the Twin Cities Police had 312 calls for service. This included two hit and run accidents and four property damage only accidents. There were three auto burglaries, one commercial burglary and one residential burglary. There were two calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in two arrests.
