Cop Log: Missing Person Found; Party Crasher

Twin Cities Police issue a citation after woman allegedly tries to run over pedestrians during the 4th of July Parade.

• A citizen watching the Fourth of July parade reported to a Twin Cities Police  Officer on the parade route that a female driver in a vehicle intentionally almost hit four pedestrians and a child on a bike. Witnesses advised she seemed frustrated with the road closures for the parade and was driving around trying to find a way out. Officers located the subject and her vehicle at her residence.  A Larkspur woman was arrested per a Citizen’s Arrest for reckless driving and was released at the scene on citation.

• Officers responded to the 50 block of Walnut Avenue on a report of a large group of juveniles running and screaming in the area.  Officers checked the area and located one male juvenile who refused to stop for officers.   A 17 year old Corte Madera juvenile male was found to be intoxicated.  He was arrested for Public Intoxication and released to a responsible adult on a juvenile citation.

• An employee of the CVS Pharmacy, located in the Bon Air Shopping Center, reported the theft of prescription medication, and advised they have video of the involved subject.  They reported the pharmacy received a call from a subject stating his “grandson” was going to pick up his prescription for cough syrup.  The pharmacy was busy when he arrived and the subject went around the counter and stole a two-pint bottle of the cough syrup, along with the prescription. A Theft report was taken and there is further action pending.

• A business in the 10 block of Tamalpais Drive reported the store was broken into.  Entry was gained by removing a rear window screen. The cash register was damaged and business was ransacked.  Taken were salmon filets and a small amount of cash.  A Commercial Burglary report was taken.

• TCPA Units responded to Tiburon after being advised that the Tiburon Police Department’s license plate reader camera picked up a stolen motorcycle going into Tiburon.  They requested assistance in case the motorcycle came out on Paradise Drive towards Corte Madera.  The motorcycle was located on Paradise Drive by a CHP unit and after a short pursuit and foot chase, with the assistance of a TCPA Officer, a San Rafael man was arrested at gunpoint in the area of Paradise Park, Tiburon.

• A Corte Madera Town Center Security Officer reported he located a driver’s license and credit cards in a trash can in the shopping center.  The items were determined to belong to a San Anselmo man who had been reported as a missing person in San Rafael.  The subject was located in Corte Madera Town Center.  He was evaluated and placed on a hold at the Marin General Hospital Crisis Unit.

• A business in the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue reported they had been broken into.  Entry was gained via an unlocked rear window.  Taken was a cash register drawer.  A Commercial Burglary report was taken.

• A business in the 10 block of Tamalpais Drive reported they had been broken into sometime during the night.  Entry was gained via a bathroom window being broken.  Taken was cash in the amount of $550 and the tip jar.  A Commercial Burglary report was taken.

• An employee of Mollie Stone’s Grocery Store, located in the Bon Air Shopping Center, reported a male subject came into the store and took $143 worth of aerosol deodorant.  He stated the subject left the store in a gray Toyota Camry.  The responsible subject left his backpack at the store.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

• An employee of Mollie Stone’s Grocery Store, located in the Bon Air Shopping Center, reported they had a female subject in custody for the theft of $110 of merchandise.  A Corte Madera woman was arrested for shoplifting.

• A business in the 400 block of Magnolia Avenue reported sometime during the night, their refrigerated box truck was spray painted with graffiti.  Photographs were taken of the graffiti and documentation was provided for the vandalism.

• A resident of the 2000 block of Redwood Highway reported he and his girlfriend were threatened by two other neighbors over a parking matter.  He reported that the one of the subjects threatened to "knock their teeth out".   All parties were contacted and an incident report taken.

• A San Rafael resident reported while his vehicle was parked in a lot at the Village Shopping Center, the rear passenger’s side window of his vehicle was smashed out and his iPad and a Coach purse were taken.   An Auto Burglary report was taken.  While investigating the above incident, a second vehicle was located that had also been broken into.  Another Auto Burglary report was taken for that incident.

• An employee of Corte Madera Public Works reported vandalism to the bathrooms in San Clemente Park.  Three toilet paper dispensers were broken.  Documentation was provided for the incident.

• A resident of the 20 block of Windward Drive reported credit card fraud that occurred in Los Angeles during the past three months.  A Fraud report was taken and will be forwarded to the Los Angeles Police Department.

• An employee of Big 5 Sporting Goods, located at 110 Nellen Avenue, reported a theft of shoes had just occurred.  The involved subject left wearing the shoes and went over the pedestrian overcrossing to the east side of U.S.  101. Officers located the subject in the marsh area, as well as a number of other subjects, at a homeless camp.  A homeless male subject was arrested for Commercial Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property and Violation of Probation and booked at the Marin County Jail.  At the homeless encampment, a Texas man was arrested for Possession of Narcotics, Resisting an Executive Officer, and Resisting Arrest.  He was also booked into the Marin County Jail.  While on the scene at the homeless encampment, the front passenger window of two patrol vehicles were damaged.  The other subjects contacted at the scene, a San Anselmo man, a Novato woman and a San Quentin man, were identified and released.

• A Mill Valley resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in a lot at the Corte Madera Town Center, his lime green 15 speed Specialized Stump jumper Epic FSR Competition mountain bike, valued at $2,000, was taken from the locked rack on the back of his vehicle.  A Grand Theft report was taken.

• Marin County Comm Center reported that medical was en route to the area of the Chase Bank, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, on a report of an intoxicated subject walking on Tamalpais Drive and falling in the street.  The subject was located and a San Francisco man was arrested for Public Intoxication.  He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 10 block of Portola Wy responded to TCPA to report she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.  A Corte Madera man was arrested for Domestic Battery and booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 30 block of Drakes View Circle reported a vehicle parked on the private property for many weeks.  It was determined that the vehicle was reported stolen to TCPA on May 8, 2012, from the 300 block of Via Hidalgo.  The vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System and notification was made to the owner.

• Pursuant to being contacted by TCPA Officers in the area of the 5800 block of Paradise Drive, a Corte Madera woman was arrested for a Violation of Probation.  She was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• While on patrol in the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal Parking lot, a TCPA Officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle which had been reported to the BART Police Department in Walnut Creek.  The vehicle was not damaged, burned, or stripped and had all license plates.  The vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System and the owner notified.

• A resident of the 40 block of Elm Street reported sometime during the night, their residence was “TP'ed”.  The incident was unwitnessed, but is part of a continuing string of vandalisms to the residence.  Documentation was provided for the Vandalism.

• The manager of the Marin Rowing Club reported there was a theft of bicycle from the area of the clubhouse.  Officers checked the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate anyone matching their description.  A Grand Theft report was taken.

A resident of the 2100 block of Redwood Highway reported two bicycles had been stolen from the area of their residence.  One is described as a women's pink Schwinn beach cruiser, valued at $150.  The second bicycle is a men's black Diamondback mountain bike, 21-speed, with a 36" frame, with an unknown value.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A Mill Valley resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in a lot at the Corte Madera Town Center, his red and white Specialized Rock Hopper mountain bike, valued at approximately $1000, was taken from a bike rack on his vehicle.  Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A San Rafael resident reported that while his vehicle was parked at a business in the 40 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard, his vehicle's window was broken and the vehicle was entered.  Taken were an iPad in a laptop case and other belongings.  An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• A Larkspur resident reported she was unable to locate her vehicle which was parked in a lot at the Bon Air Shopping Center.  The area was checked for the vehicle with negative results.  A Stolen Vehicle report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

• The owner of a business in the 100 building of Drakes Landing Road reported checks have been stolen from his business.  One check has been cashed in the amount of $4,820.  A Fraud report was taken and there is possible follow-up investigation pending.

• The manager of Mollie Stone’s Grocery Store, located in the Bon Air Shopping Center, reported they have a subject in custody for the theft of $88 worth of alcohol.  A San Rafael woman was arrested for Burglary and Petty Theft with a Prior Conviction for Petty Theft.  She was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 30 block of Lakeside Drive reported via 9-1-1 that a bicycle had just been stolen from her garage by a male subject.  The bicycle is a black and orange Cannondale, valued at $1,200.  Officers searched the area and located the suspect and bicycle at the Southbound U.S. 101 bus pad, on the Tamalpais Drive overcrossing.  A Corte Madera man was arrested for Burglary and Violation of Probation.  He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 40 block of El Portal Drive reported her storage unit was broken into and a computer was taken. She advised that the lock was broken and the unit couldn't be re-secured.  Two other storage units were also determined to have been broken into, but nothing was taken. Three Residential Burglary reports were taken for this incident.

• The owner of a business which had previously been in the 1100 block of Magnolia Avenue reported she just moved her business.  While the business had been in Larkspur, someone copied her checks and forged her signature. She advised she has received a call from the San Francisco Police Department that they had someone in custody with the forged checks. A Fraud Report was taken and there is follow-up pending with SFPD.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 372 calls for service.  This included one calls related to accidents with minor injuries, two hit and run accidents and six property damage only accidents.  There were three auto burglaries, six commercial burglaries and two residential burglaries.  There was one call related to Driving while Intoxicated, however, there were no arrests.
