Twin Cities Police Log Dec. 14-20: Several residents report missing items from their cars, including one woman who lost 18 pairs of sunglasses.

 

• A resident of the 100 block of Sandpiper Circle reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and took 18 pairs of sunglasses, CD's, maps and the vehicle’s registration. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A Kentfield resident reported the theft of her wallet while shopping at Rite Aid, located in the Corte Madera Town Center. The wallet is small-sized, Italian purple leather, containing her driver’s license, four credit cards and $35 cash. There was an attempt to use her credit card at the Apple Store, located in the Village Shopping Center, but it was declined. Nothing else appeared to be taken. A report was taken to document the theft.

• A resident of the 600 block of South Eliseo Boulevard reported the theft of her bicycle. She advised the bicycle is a black men's mountain bike. Documentation of the theft was provided.

• A Security Guard for the Corte Madera Town Center reported a subject who is bleeding from the nose and appears to be extremely intoxicated was last seen headed north from the il Fornaio restaurant. Officers located a San Rafael man who was arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place and booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 900 block of Meadowsweet Drive reported someone had stolen the number from her debit card and was able to make purchases. The approximate loss is $300 - $400. An Identity Theft report was taken.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center reported they had a female subject in custody for shoplifting of $966 in merchandise. A San Rafael woman was arrested for Grand Theft and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 380 block of Via Hidalgo reported he observed a subject with a bicycle that was in his carport doing something to his car. He said when he started to approach him, the subject dropped his bicycle and ran. The subject was last seen heading down Via Hidalgo. Units checked the area and were unable to locate the subject. A report was taken for Attempted Burglary to a vehicle.

• A resident of the 800 block of South Eliseo reported her bike was stolen from her garage. The bicycle is a black, red and yellow Gary Fisher 24 speed valued at approximately $1,300. A Grand Theft report was taken.

• An employee of Redwood High School reported there is an adult on the campus flying a model airplane. Officers contacted a Lower Lake man who was advised of the complaint and asked to leave the area.

• A business in the 5700 block of Paradise Drive reported they have an account that has been closed for approximately two years, and someone has been cashing checks against it. They advised they now have suspect information. It was determined the checks were being written in Texas and the Secret Service has already been notified. A report was taken and will be forwarded to the Secret Service for information.

• A business in the Village Shopping Center reported a woman stole a long sleeved black t-shirt. The woman was last seen heading toward Nordstrom. Officers located the subject; a Novato woman was arrested for Shoplifting and released on a citation after being booked at TCPD.

• A resident of the 600 block of Tamalpais Drive reported he came home and found his front door standing open and a laptop missing. The laptop is valued at approximately $2,000. There was no evidence of forced entry. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A resident in the 10 block of Windward Drive reported she witnessed four juvenile males egging the house. She said when they saw her, they ran and got into a vehicle which was last seen headed into the apartment area on Prince Royal. She was able to provide the license plate of the vehicle the subjects left in. Officers checked the area and located a vehicle that also had been egged. The owner was advised. Contact was made with the owners of the responsible vehicle and the parents were advised. Documentation of the Vandalism was provided.

• A resident of the 200 block of William Avenue reported he received a call from a person saying he is an attorney for his stepson, claiming his stepson was arrested in the State of Washington for rear-ending a foreign diplomat who is pressing charges. He said he needed $2,000 wired to him immediately, "in Madrid, Spain," to cover costs. He was in the process of obtaining the money when he talked to his step-son and learned he is not in Washington and is not in trouble. Advice was given. Documentation was provided for the attempted Fraud.

• An employee of a business in the Village Shopping Center reported two female subjects came into the store and took three pairs of "Chanel" sunglasses with an approximate value of $900. It was determined the incident was unwitnessed and there is no further information. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident of the 10 block of Council Crest reported theft of items from her unlocked vehicle. Items taken include a bag of toiletries and two boxes of business supplies for event planning. The approximate loss is $300. Documentation of the theft was provided.

• A resident of the 10 block of Mohawk Avenue reported his GPS unit was taken from his unlocked vehicle. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident of the 300 block of Riviera Circle reported someone has changed her address and opened up five American Express accounts using her name, Social Security number and phone number, and one of the accounts has been used. The loss to date is approximately $1,800. Documentation was provided while she obtains more information.

• A resident of San Francisco came to TCPD to report a credit card fraud. She advised she paid a down payment of $1,750 for a wig and she has not received the wig or her money back. She has attempted to contact the subject, who has a Corte Madera address, and has not been able to reach the person who she purchased the wig from. A fraud report was taken and there is further investigation pending.

• A San Francisco resident came to TCPD to report her husband's credit cards were fraudulently used at Nordstrom in the Village Shopping Center. Someone has compromised their American Express card and spent $35,000. A fraud report was taken and there is further investigation pending.

• A resident of the 200 block of Wilson Way reported the theft of her bicycle, a teal green with orange writing, 18 speed, Specialized, unknown model, valued at approximately $200. There is no suspect information or serial number. Documentation for the theft was provided.

• A Security Officer for the Bon Air Shopping Center called to report that he is out with a possible stolen vehicle to the rear of the shopping center. He reported that the vehicle is an unoccupied white van. A check of the vehicle revealed it was reported as stolen to the San Rafael Police Department on Nov. 8, 2011. The vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System and released to the owner.

• A resident of the 20 block of Mariner Green Drive reported he received a phone scam call for his wife from a male caller. The call came from the 253 area code and claimed his wife was pre-qualified for an interest free $7,000 government grant. The caller asked for personal information, but he did not give it. Documentation was provided for the attempted scam.

• A San Anselmo resident reported that while she was at work at a store in the Village Shopping Center, her rear window was smashed on her vehicle. Nothing appears to be missing, and there is no suspect information. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

• A resident of the 10 block of Hawthorne Lane reported he received an e-mail stating he had purchased a Blackberry phone with his PayPal account, which he had not done, and it was shipped to an address in Florida. The loss is $465. A fraud report was taken and will be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency in Florida.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom reported she has a female shoplifter in custody. Taken was a wallet valued at $130. A Greenbrae female was arrested for Shoplifting and released on a citation at the scene.

• An employee at 24 Hour Fitness, located in the Marin Country Mart, reported a locker was broken into and wallet containing $1,400 cash and credit cards was taken. The victim is a San Rafael resident. A Commercial Burglary report was taken to document the theft.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop at the end of Shady Lane, a Larkspur man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was processed at TCPD and the booked at the Marin County Jail.

During this one week time period, the Twin Cities Police had 334 calls for service. This included one call related to an accident with minor injuries, one hit and run accident and seven property damage only accidents. There was one auto burglary, one commercial burglary and one residential burglary. There was one call related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in one arrest.
