SF Man Arrested After Car Crash in Front of Larkspur Landing Movie Theater

Witnesses were unable to put an allegedly intoxicated man behind the wheel at the time of the crash, police said.

Central Marin Police arrested a San Francisco man after a solo car crash outside the Century Larkspur Theatre on Larkspur Landing Circle Friday night.

At around 8 p.m. Friday, police received a call from a person outside the theater at Larkspur Landing and Lincoln Village circles who said she heard a car collide with an unidentified object in the parking lot outside the theater, according to the report.

Police went to the scene and found an abandoned car that had been involved in a solo crash. The car's airbag had been deployed and the driver was no longer at the scene, police said.

As police searched the area for the driver, they received a call from the car's owner, a 31-year-old San Francisco man, reporting that the car had been stolen.

Police said they suspected that the man had actually been driving the car while intoxicated at the time of the crash. But witnesses could not place the driver behind the wheel at the time of the crash, so police arrested the man on suspicion of public drunkenness.
