Thieves, Vandals Lack The Christmas Spirit

Twin Cities Police Log Dec. 21-27: Police receive reports of burglary, identity theft and domestic abuse.

 

• A resident in the 10 block of Skylark Drive reported his 8' x 8' inflatable globe Christmas decoration was slashed. This occurred last year too. The loss is $325. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

• A resident of the 70 block of Birch Avenue reported her vehicle was entered via unknown means. Taken were four bags of Christmas gifts, two kite surfing kites, and one pair sunglasses. The approximate total loss is $1,500. There is no suspect information and it was determined the items were taken from an unlocked vehicle. A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation.

• A resident of the 300 block of Rivera Circle reported she would like to file an identity theft report and she has suspect information. While the Twin Cities Police
Officer was at the residence, the Daly City Police Department called and advised they had two suspects in custody for credit card fraud, with her as the victim. An Identity Theft report was taken and will be forwarded to D.C.P.D.

• TCPD Units responded to the 50 block of Sonora Way on the report of a male subject sitting in a vehicle smoking marijuana. The caller thought the subject may be associated with a party across the street. A Greenbrae juvenile male was contacted and found to be in possession of a small amount of Marijuana. The Marijuana was seized for destruction. Units also contacted a small group of juveniles who were just hanging out at the residence across the street; there was no merit to a party. A parent was contacted and advised of the complaint.

• A resident of the 40 block of Via La Cumbre reported her home had been broken into the previous evening through the garage door. She advised jewelry was taken. Several pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $5,000 were stolen. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A caregiver for a resident in the 10 block of Ardmore reported via 9-1-1 a woman was just assaulted by her estranged husband who came to the home uninvited. It was determined that the subject had already left the residence. An APB was broadcast for the subject and a Marin City man was later located and arrested for Domestic Violence. He was booked at the Marin County Jail. The victim was taken to the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room for injuries she sustained.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Macy’s, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported they have a subject in custody for the theft of merchandise. A San Rafael woman was arrested for shoplifting a watch, earrings, lingerie, and scarves, for a total loss of $297. The subject was released on a citation at the scene.

• Residents of the 10 block of Sycamore Avenue reported someone may have taken a picture from their home and had put it in their mailbox with a demand for money. A report was taken for documentation and there is possible follow-up pending.

• A resident in the 900 block of Meadowsweet Drive reported approximately ten boxes of medical supplies were taken from his front porch. The loss is estimated at $4,000. A Grand Theft report was taken for documentation.

• A 9-1-1 hang-up call, with no answer on call back, was received from a residence in the 10 block of Bridge Road. Officers contacted the residents and determined there had been a Domestic Battery incident. A Larkspur woman was arrested for Domestic Violence and she was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• Pursuant to a TCPD Officer contacting subjects in an occupied vehicle in the 200 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard, it was determined the occupants were having a verbal altercation. A Novato woman and a San Rafael man were contacted. A cab was called for the woman who went home. The man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A TCPD Officer discovered a newspaper dispenser in the Bon Air Shopping Center was jimmied during the night and the coin box was stolen. Documentation for the theft was provided. It was determined no other dispensers were broken into in the center.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 10 block of East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, a Corte Madera man was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and served notification that he was driving on a suspended license. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• While on patrol in the area of Redwood Highway and Industrial Way, a TCPD Officer located a vehicle with the rear window smashed out. The owner, a Corte Madera resident, was contacted and she advised a plastic tool box and vehicle supplies were taken. The approximate loss is $100. An Auto Burglary report was taken to document the theft.

• A resident of the 200 block of Corte Madera Avenue reported in the early morning hours, her estranged husband had broken into the residence through a window and he was found sleeping on their son's lower bunk. She advised that she has a Domestic Violence Protection Order against the subject. A report was taken and will be forwarded to the District Attorney's office for Violation of a Restraining Order and Residential Burglary.

• A Larkspur resident reported her purse was taken from near her feet while she was in a business in the Corte Madera Town Center. She advised it contained her wallet, sunglasses, gift cards, credit cards, a driver's license, and approximately $500 in cash. The approximate loss is $4,000. A report was taken to document the theft.

• An employee of the Silver Peso Bar, located at 450 Magnolia Ave., reported an intoxicated subject who is refusing to leave the bar. Officers contacted a Larkspur man who was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Paradise Drive and U.S. Highway 101, a Sebastopol man was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported he has a subject detained for taking $1,369 worth of merchandise. A San Rafael woman was arrested for Commercial Burglary and was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A South San Francisco resident reported that she was at Denny's Restaurant, located at 5839 Paradise Drive, and someone stole money from her purse. She reported that she had forgotten her purse at the restaurant and when she called, she learned they had located her purse. When she returned to collect the purse, she discovered it was missing $140 in cash. It was determined there is no suspect information. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• Pursuant to checking an unoccupied vehicle at Remillard Park, a TCPD Officer contacted two subjects. A Kentfield man and a Larkspur man were reprimanded and released after a small amount of Marijuana was seized for destruction.

During this one week time period, the Twin Cities Police had 222 calls for service. This included one call related to accidents with minor injuries, two hit and run accidents and seven property damage only accidents. There was one auto burglary, one commercial burglary and two residential burglaries. There were six calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in two arrests.
