Twin Cities Crime Log: April 20-26

Church victim of burglary; Car runs into store, driver unhurt.

• The Holy Innocents Church, 2 Tamalpais Drive, reported that someone entered their parish office and gift shop, while it was momentarily unattended, and took a Dell laptop computer, valued at $900, and $10 worth of used clothing. 

• A resident in the area of the 300 block of Via Casitas reported a suspicious occupied vehicle that was parked in the area for the last three hours with subjects smoking and drinking next to the vehicle. Officers contacted a San Rafael female and three San Rafael males. The female subject was taken into custody for being Intoxicated in a Public Place. She was transported to the Helen Vine Center for detoxification.

• The Twin Cities Police Department School Resource Officer contacted an intoxicated student at Redwood High School. The student was also determined to be in possession of Marijuana for sales. He was arrested and later released to a family member.

• Staff at Redwood High School called to report that three of their students were hanging out in front of a residence in the 600 block of Riviera Circle and that there possibly were more students in the backyard of that same residence. Officers contacted the three students in front of the residence and six students in the backyard. One of the students, a male Ross resident was determined to be under the influence of Marijuana and was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana; Under One Ounce. All of the students were reprimanded for trespassing and were turned over to the school for any further action.

• A store in the Bon Air Shopping center reported that a vehicle had just run into their building. It was determined that a San Rafael woman’s foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal. Officers assisted with the exchange of information.

• A Larkspur woman reported that while her vehicle was parked, unlocked, in the area of The Counter restaurant in the Corte Madera Town Center shopping center, someone entered her vehicle and stole her purse. The purse contained her checkbook, credit cards and a Samsung camera. Loss was estimated at $100.

• The Corte Madera Department of Public Works reported graffiti vandalism to the bathrooms at Town Park. Photographs of the vandalism were taken for documentation.

• A business in the 900 block of Magnolia Avenue reported that someone had thrown a rock through a window of the business and then stolen a computer and checks. A Commercial Burglary report was taken and the case is under investigation.

• A resident in the 800 block of Meadowsweet Drive reported that he had responded to an ad in Craig’s List for a job as an Administrative Assistant. In response, he received a call from a person who stated that he is currently out of the country and will return in two weeks, but asked that he perform some tasks in the meantime. He then received a check in the mail which he deposited into his own account and He then received a check in the mail which he deposited into his own account and wired the funds to the person. By the end of the day, the bank determined the check to be fraudulent, causing him a loss of the funds he had sent. 

• A store in the Bon Air Shopping center reported that a vehicle had just run into their building. It was determined that a San Rafael woman’s foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal. Officers assisted with the exchange of information.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the Corte Madera Town Center, a San Rafael woman was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale, being a Felon in Possession of a Stun Gun, Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia and Violation of Probation. A passenger in the vehicle, another San Rafael woman, was arrested for an outstanding Sonoma County Traffic Warrant. Both were booked into the Marin County Jail.

• The manager of Denny’s Restaurant, located at 5839 Paradise Drive, reported that four to five subjects had run out of the restaurant without paying for approximately $50 worth of food. The area was checked for the subjects with negative results. Documentation for the incident was provided.

• The Richmond Police Department reported that they had recovered a Nissan pick-up truck that had been stolen from TCPD jurisdiction on April 19. The vehicle was not damaged and there is no one in custody. The owner of the vehicle was notified.

• A resident in the 140 block of Edison Avenue reported that his midnight blue Cannondale R400 16 speed bicycle was taken from the entry way of his residence sometime during the night. Loss is $700.

• A Larkspur resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in the area of the Wells Fargo Bank in the Bon Air Shopping Center, it was entered via the driver’s side window being forced down. Taken was a 15” black Apple iMac laptop computer, valued at $1,650. 

• Officers responded to a call of two loose dogs in the 700 block of Meadowsweet Drive. They were able to locate one of the dogs and via its tags, were able to locate and contact the owner, a Corte Madera man. When the owner responded to the scene, it was determined that he had an outstanding Marin County Arrest Warrant. He was arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail. The dog was turned over to his girlfriend. Officers were unable to locate the second dog.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 180 block of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, a San Rafael Man was arrested for Driving without a Driver’s License and released on a citation. His vehicle was parked and locked at the scene.

• A Greenbrae resident reported via 911 that she had fallen asleep at the wheel and had run into two parked vehicles in the area of the 200 block of Lower Via Casitas. Assistance was provided with the exchange of information between the involved parties.

• After being notified via CHP Dispatch, Officers responded to a three vehicle non-injury traffic accident involving a garbage truck on Larkspur Landing Circle and East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

• A caller reported seeing a possibly intoxicated subject in the area of the Corte Madera Recreation Center, 498 Tamalpais Drive. A Larkspur man was located an arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• Numerous callers, via 911, reported a semi-truck which had knocked down a sign in the area of Redwood Avenue and Corte Madera Avenue and had then left the scene. The vehicle was located in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Piedmont and the driver was contacted. A non-injury accident report was taken.

• A Greenbrae resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in the area of the il Fornaio Restaurant in the Corte Madera Town Center, it was broken into. Taken were purchase she had just made at the Pottery Barn and other miscellaneous items. Loss was estimated at $200.

• A female San Anselmo student at Redwood High School was arrested for Possession of Marijuana on School Grounds. She was released on a citation to a parent.

• A Novato man reported that within the last 20 minutes, his van, which he had left parked in the area of the 200 block of Birch Avenue with the keys in the ignition, was stolen. The area was checked for the vehicle with negative results. A stolen vehicle report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the stolen vehicle system.

• Officers responded with the Larkspur Fire Department to assist on a call of a person with an “altered level of consciousness” at the Marin General Hospital Business Office, 300 Drakes Landing Road. On arrival, they arrested a Santa Rosa woman for being Intoxicated in a Public Place. Later, after she was medically cleared at the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room, she was released to the care of her fiancé.

• A Larkspur man reported that his truck, while parked in the area of the 10 block of Rich Street, was damaged by someone “keying” the passenger side. 

• A resident in the 30 block of Paseo Way reported that during a party they had at the residence the previous Friday, jewelry and three iPhones were taken form the residence (one of the iPhones had been previously reported to TCPD by the victim). A Grand Theft report was taken.

• A resident in the 20 block of Wildflower Court reported, via 911, a swarm of bees outside her residence. She was provided information for contacting a beekeeper or pest removal service.

• Nordstrom Loss Prevention reported a Fraud had occurred the previous week and they now needed to file a report. The total loss is undetermined at this time. A report was taken and there is follow-up and further investigation pending.

• Nordstrom Loss Prevention reported a subject in custody for shoplifting. A San Rafael woman was arrested for shoplifting and released at the scene on a citation.

• Macy’s Loss Prevention reported a subject in custody for shoplifting. A Campbell woman was arrested for shoplifting and released at the scene on a citation.

• A San Anselmo man reported the theft of his unlocked bicycle form the rear of the Home Consignment Center, located at 801 Tamalpais Drive. The bicycle is described as a royal blue Bianchi men’s 10 speed. Loss is $600.

• A resident in the 150 block of reported the theft of his orange Specialized 18 speed bicycle from his open garage. A residential burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 250 block of Via La Cumbre reported that her neighbor had just “sideswiped” her vehicle. Officers responded and assisted with the exchange of information.

During this one week time period, we had 322 calls for service. This included one accident with minor injuries and six property damage only accidents. There were two auto burglaries, one commercial burglary and one residential burglary. There were no calls related to Driving while Intoxicated.
