Police seek female suspect in theft

• Residents in the 300 block of Via La Paz reported the theft of a package from their front porch. They advised they were expecting a delivery and when they did not locate the package, they contacted UPS who confirmed the package was delivered. The residence has video of the porch area and on reviewing it, a female subject was seen taking the package and also attempting to enter one of their vehicles parked in the driveway.
The subject is described as a Hispanic or Asian female, approximately five foot three inches tall and 120 pounds, wearing a long, white shirt and blue jeans. The subject left the area in what appears to be a Honda SUV, possibly an Odyssey or a Pilot. Taken were an iPod Nano and a pair of boots. Further investigation is pending.

• Two residences in the 20 block of Fairview Avenue were victims of residential burglaries on the same date. In the first one, the resident came home to find her locked front door had been pried open. Taken were jewelry, a digital camera, a wireless router and a suitcase, total value undetermined at this time. The backdoor to the residence was also found open and the burglary may have been interrupted. A black sedan, no further information, was seen leaving the area.
In the second burglary, the resident came home to find her residence had been entered, possibly through the laundry room window. Jewelry and electronics were taken. The resident is still completing an inventory.

• Marin Honda reported that a subject had purchased a used vehicle with a check, but then closed the account prior to them receiving payment. Suspect information is available and a fraud report was taken.

• A resident of the 130 block of Magnolia Avenue reported that he had discovered fraudulent use of his checking account. Total loss at this time was determined to be $8930. A report was taken and there is follow-up pending.

• A resident of Corte Del Bayo reported that he found out someone had used his information to open a Chase checking account and write approximately $2500 in fraudulent checks when he was contacted by a collections agency. A report was taken with further investigation pending.

• A Corte Madera resident reported that he had been a victim of a hit-and-run accident while driving eastbound on the Tamalpais Drive overcrossing of U.S. 101. He advised that a dark green SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango, had hit his vehicle and then failed to stop. The license plate number he obtained was incorrect. Documentation was provided.

• After being reported by Security at the Corte Madera Town Center, a San Francisco man was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and a Probation Violation. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• After responding to the report of an alarm at a dentist’s office in the 500 block of Tamalpais Drive, Officers located a front window that had been smashed with a rock. It was determined that approximately $100 cash had been taken. A commercial Burglary report was taken.

• A resident in the 900 block of Via Casitas reported the theft of her son’s bicycle which had been locked in a bicycle rack near the residence. The lock cable had been cut. The bicycle, a grey and black Trek mountain bike, is valued at approximately $400.

• Security for the REI store reported that a person had gotten out of his vehicle in the parking lot near the store and acted like he was pointing a gun at people, but no gun was seen. The subject was now inside the store. A San Rafael man was located, arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A Fairfax resident reported that her purse was either lost or stolen in the area of Yogaworks in the Marin Country Mart Shopping Center. The purse contained a wallet, credit cards and two cell phones. Documentation was provided.

• After being contacted pursuant to a traffic stop on Magnolia Ave. in the area of Baltimore Avenue, a Larkspur man was arrested for suspicion of Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• TCPD Units responded to a report of a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the roadway on Madera Boulevard, in the area of the Safeway store in the Corte Madera Town Center, and that had possibly been involved in an accident. Officers located the vehicle and a Richmond man was arrested for suspicion of Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License and Resisting Arrest. He was booked into the Marin County Jail after having been medically cleared at the scene by the Corte Madera Fire Department due to the air bag in his vehicle having deployed in the accident.

• A resident in the 50 block of Stetson Avenue reported that he found the rear door of his vehicle, which had been locked, ajar. On checking the vehicle, he discovered that a white Channel Island surfboard, a black wetsuit, a pair of Smith sunglasses, cufflinks, a gym bag, a backpack and two charging devices had been taken. Total loss is estimated at $1,570. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

• A resident in the 20 block of Marina Vista Avenue reported that he discovered a window on his vehicle had been smashed while it was parked in his driveway. Entry was gained to the vehicle and a leather backpack valued at $200 was taken.

• A Sacramento woman was arrested for an outstanding warrant held by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office after she was contacted in a vehicle on a traffic stop in the area of Tamalpais Drive and Madera Boulevard. She was booked into the Marin County Jail. A small amount of Marijuana located in the vehicle was also seized for destruction.

• Officers discovered at least 20 fire hydrant caps were stolen from fire hydrants in east Corte Madera. No further information is available. The Corte Madera Fire Department was notified.

• Security from Safeway in the Corte Madera Town Center detained a homeless man and an Iowa man for shoplifting, however, they were served trespass notices and sent from the area after it was determined that Safeway declined to prosecute.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop of a bicycle in the 700 block of Meadowsweet Drive, a San Rafael man was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and Violation of Probation. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• After responding to assist the Corte Madera Fire Department on a suspicious medical call in the 10 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard., a Corte Madera man was arrested on an outstanding warrant held by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident in the 1300 block of South Eliseo Drive reported that his vehicle had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident while parked in the area of his residence. He advised that a note with a name and phone number had been left on the vehicle, but attempts to contact the person were unsuccessful. Advice was given and further action is pending.

• A resident in the 60 block of Ardmore Road reported that her unlocked vehicle had been entered and an iPod was taken. Documentation was provided.

• A caller reported via OnStar that there was a person laying in the median in the area of E. Sir Francis Drake Blvd. and the pedestrian overcrossing from the Ferry Terminal. A Los Angeles man was located, arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place, and transported to the Helen Vine Center for detoxification.

• A Larkspur resident reported that her locked vehicle was entered while parked in the area of the Il Fornaio Restaurant in the Corte Madera Town Center. Taken were a bag with a Mac Pro laptop computer and an iPad. Exact amount of the loss is still being determined.

• A resident in the 50 block of Corte Toluca reported the theft of a GPS unit, valued at approximately $150, from his unlocked vehicle which was parked in the area of his residence.

• A man reported his car had been broken into Thursday afternoon at Corte Madera Town Center while parked between Wells Fargo and Safeway. Items taken include a laptop, GPS, credit cards, Costco card, $20 cash and a wedding ring.

• During this one week time period, officers had 274 calls for service. This included three hit and run accidents and five property damage only accidents. There were three auto burglaries, one commercial burglary and two residential burglaries. There were two calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in two arrests.
