Twin Cities Police Log: March 16-22

Police advise shoppers to keep their cars locked.

• A Corte Madera resident reported that while his vehicle was parked and locked in the parking lot of the Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, it was entered via unknown means. Taken were the vehicle’s Alpine stereo, an iPod, and a Bluetooth device. Total amount of the loss was estimated at $475.

• A resident in the 500 block of South Eliseo Drive reported the theft of the front wheel and seat from his bicycle which was locked under the stairs at his building. Loss was estimated at $200.

• Twin Cities Police units responded to the 400 block of Redwood Avenue for a woman who reported that her husband had tried to break her arm. It was determined that a physical fight had taken place, but that the husband had left the residence prior to officer’s arrival. A report was taken for Domestic Battery. The husband was later located, arrested for the Domestic Battery and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident in the 90 block of Granada Drive, who was contacted after his son reported him as being depressed and suicidal, was arrested on two outstanding warrants. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 40 block of Via Belardo reported that her vehicle was broken into while it was parked near her residence. The passenger window was broken and her purse was stolen.

• A resident in the 20 block of Holly Drive reported a tree down in the area of her residence due to the storm. The Larkspur Fire Department also responded and moved the tree from the roadway while officers assisted with traffic control.

• Officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle accident, with a vehicle skidding into the guardrail, in the area of Paradise Drive and Robin Drive. The vehicle was located and traffic control was provided while it was moved from the roadway. There was no damage to the guardrail.

• A resident in the 10 block of Spindrift Passage reported that she had found her vehicle with the doors standing open. She discovered that someone had taken her Bluetooth device, a folder containing coupons and a sunglass case.

• The Union 76 gas station at 700 Tamalpais Drive reported that during the night, someone damaged one of their gas pumps in what appeared to be an attempt to remove the credit card reader.

• A resident in the 90 block of Madrone Avenue reported that his vehicle had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident sometime during the night. There was damage to the front and side of his vehicle and the driver’s side mirror was broken. There is no information regarding the responsible vehicle.

• Officers responded to a report of a minor-injury accident in the area of the Cheesecake Factory in the Village Shopping Center. A San Anselmo man and a San Francisco woman had been involved in the accident and the woman was now complaining of pain in her knee. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

• Officers responded to a report of a three vehicle non-injury accident on East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in the area of the Marin Country Mart Shopping Center.

• Twin Cities Police units responded to a minor-injury accident in the area of the Corte Madera Library on Meadowsweet Drive. A San Rafael woman, who was seated in a parked vehicle, received minor injuries when her vehicle was run into by a vehicle driven by a Corte Madera man. An accident report was taken.

• A Corte Madera resident reported that while he was out riding his bicycle in the area of Paradise Drive and San Clemente Drive, he was struck by a large black SUV type vehicle which then left the scene without providing any information. There is suspect vehicle information and follow-up is pending.

• Twin Cities Police assisted the California Highway Patrol with locating a vehicle which had been involved in a hit-and-run accident on the Golden Gate Bridge. The license plate for the vehicle returned to a resident in the 20 block of Parkview Circle. The vehicle was located there and CHP continued their investigation.

• Responding to several reports via 911 of a vehicle accident in which an air bag had been deployed, officers located a non-injury accident in the 140 block of Magnolia Avenue between a San Francisco man and a Forest Knolls man.

• A Novato resident reported that while her vehicle was parked, unlocked, in the parking lot for the Cheesecake Factory in the Village Shopping Center, someone had entered it and stolen her Dell laptop computer. Loss was approximately $2,000.

• A Mill Valley woman reported that while her vehicle was parked in the area of 24 Hour Fitness in the Marin Country Mart, someone entered it and removed a credit card and a Mac Book Pro laptop computer. Loss was estimated at $1,800.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 327 calls for service. This included three calls related to accidents with minor injuries, one hit and run accident and five property damage only accidents. There were three auto burglaries and one residential burglary. There were no calls related to Driving while Intoxicated.
