Who's Reading Your Mail? Not Who You Might Suspect

Twin Cities Police arrest suspects in Bay Area-wide rash of mail thefts.

A pair of suspected thieves who have been targeting your mail were arrested recently by Twin Cities Police officers.

The Twin Cities Police Department was called to Greenbrae Hills on Thursday, March 22, at about 10 a.m. The victim allegedly observed a black male adult inside the right front passenger seat of an older American car. The subject leaned out from the right front passenger door, open the victim’s mail box, which was located next to the street, and took an envelope the victim had placed inside for mail pick up.

TCPD officers searched the area and located a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop at the Bon Air Center.

The victim responded to the scene and positively identified the vehicle and the subject who had leaned out from the car and took his mail. After a search of the vehicle, the driver and passenger were placed under arrest for Conspiracy, Theft and other related charges.

TCPD learned both subjects were involved in similar incidents throughout the Bay Area and are currently being investigated by TCPD Investigations and the U.S. Postal Service. Both suspects were arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail.

Officers warn residents not to place important documents or checks in the mailbox, where they are out of sight and vulnerable to identity thieves. Take your mail directly to the Post Office or drop it in a locked mailbox.
