Woman Survives Plunge Off Ravine

Larkspur resident suffers minor injury as her car drives off a steep hill.

A Larkspur woman was admitted to Marin General Hospital on Tuesday night around 8 p.m. with minor injuries after her car drove through a fence and down a steep ravine at Skylark Apartments.

The driver, whose identity is being withheld, was in a parking space at the apartment complex when her 2006 BMW lunged forward, through a fence and down 25 feet over a steep hill. The car then slid another 30 feet, narrowly missing a building as it came to rest, according to acting captain Tom Timmin of the Larkspur Fire Department.

The woman was placed on a backboard as Larkspur Fire personnel pulled her up the hill to safety. The car was hauled away by Corte Madera Tow.
