Woman Takes Photos of Dog in Car at Village Mall, Threatens to Post Them Online

Our roundup of police activities in the Twin Cities from July 2-9 also includes a shirtless man wearing American flag shorts who gave a group of kids a bag of marijuana in Corte Madera Town Park and said, "Happy 4th of July."






A resident of the 300 building of Old Quarry Road North in Larkspur reported the front of her apartment has been excessively littered with trash. Documentation was provided for the vandalism and she was referred to the complex management.

A Security Officer for the Corte Madera Town Center reported he had located a lost child. While CMPA Dispatch was on the phone with the Security Officer, they received another call of a child matching the description which was reported missing from Barnes and Noble. CMTC Security re-united the child and parent. No further assistance was needed from CMPA.

A resident of the 60 block of Harvard Drive in Larkspur reported approximately a week prior, someone had stolen his blue wooden picnic table from his front yard. Documentation was provided for the theft.

A resident of the 1300 block of South Eliseo Drive reported someone had damaged their palm trees by breaking off branches. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

A Tiburon resident reported while she was parked in a lot at the Village Shopping Center in Corte Madera, a female subject took photos of her and was threatening to put them online for leaving her dog in unattended her vehicle. Both subjects were contacted and given advice.

A Mill Valley resident reported that while it was parked in the 700 block of Meadowsweet Drive in Corte Madera, his vehicle window had been smashed. The right front window was broken by an unknown object, but no entry was made to the vehicle. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

CMPA Officers were contacted by four juvenile male subjects in the Corte Madera Town Park who reported an intoxicated male subject, who was not wearing a shirt and had American flag shorts, handed them a bag of marijuana and said “Happy 4th of July.” Officers were unable to locate the subject. The marijuana was destroyed.

A Corte Madera resident reported while it was parked in the Corte Madera Town Center, the front hub caps were taken off his vehicle. Documentation was provided for the theft.

A resident of the 100 block of Lower Via Casitas in Larkspur reported three or four male subject smoking marijuana and listening to loud music at the top of the steps which lead down to the Bon Air Shopping Center. Officers contacted the three subjects and they were advised of the complaint. No marijuana was located.

While a CMPA officer was on a traffic stop, a two car collision occurred behind him, southbound on US 101, prior to the E. Blithedale off-ramp. The Officer assisted with moving the vehicles off the roadway and onto the off-ramp. A medical check-out was requested for three involved subjects with minor injuries due to an airbag deployment. The officer stood by until the California Highway Patrol arrived.

A resident of the 100 block of Walnut Ave. in Corte Madera reported he received a bank statement in the mail that showed three fraudulent checks had been written and cashed against his account. A Fraud report was taken.

A resident of the 40 block of Magnolia Ave. reported a strange man had been in her backyard. She advised when she saw him, she screamed, after which he apologized and left. She said before leaving, the subject told her he used to date a woman who lived nearby, but she did not recognize him. CMPA Officers checked the area for the subject with negative results.

A Loss Prevention Agent for Macy’s, located in the Village Shopping Center in Corte Madera, reported via 9-1-1 that two male subjects were seen taking men's socks and underwear and left the store without paying for the merchandise. They were last seen leaving the parking lot onto Redwood Hwy. in a vehicle. Officers checked the area for the involved subjects and vehicle with negative results. Documentation was provided for the shoplifting.

An employee of the Verizon Wireless store, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported a male subject just stole two Bluetooth devices, valued together at approximately $100. The subject left in an unknown direction in a taxi. The taxi dispatcher was contacted and advised the cab was now on Freitas Parkway in San Rafael. The driver pulled over, but the subject and a friend got out of the taxi and headed towards the Marin County Fairgrounds. The San Rafael Police Department was requested to respond, but was unable to locate the subject. A Shoplift report was taken and there is additional investigation pending.

A resident of Palm Court reported several credit card accounts were opened using her personal information and $13,000 in charges have been made. A Fraud report was taken. 

A Kentfield resident reported his vehicle was broken into while it was parked on Riviera Circle in Larkspur. Taken was a bag containing his driver’s license, credit cards and $10,000 in cash. An Auto Burglary report was taken.

An employee of a business in the Corte Madera Town Center reported his wallet and cell phone were taken from his backpack in the employee break room. A female subject was believed to be involved in the theft. A check of the area for the subject met with negative results. A Theft report was taken and the cell phone was entered into the Automated Property System.

A Larkspur resident reported while it was parked in the Corte Madera Town Center, her locked bicycle was taken. The bicycle is a black, women's 21 speeds, Specialized Ariel Sport Disc with a black basket on the back. A check of the area met with negative results. Documentation was provided for the theft.

A Mill Valley resident reported her silver, locked, Ibis Mojo mountain bike, was stolen from the rear of her vehicle while parked in a parking lot in the Corte Madera Town Center. The bicycle is valued at $2500. Documentation for the theft was provided.

A resident of the 200 block of Chapman Drive in Corte Madera reported her credit card number was used at a business in Tucson, Arizona. The loss is approximately $1100. A Fraud report was taken.

A San Anselmo resident reported while he was at Twenty-Four Hour Fitness, located in the Marin Country Mart shopping center in Larkspur, the lock was broken off his locker. Items were taken from his locker, including his car keys. The involved subject then used his keys to open his vehicle and remove items from it as well.  A Commercial Burglary report was taken.

A resident of the 100 block of South Eliseo Drive in Greenbrae reported she is calling for her cousin who has dementia and had a credit card account opened in her name without permission. There has been $1000 in fraudulent charges. An Identity Theft report was taken.

The owner of a business in the 500 block of Magnolia Ave. in Larkspur reported they have had a female customer who passed non-sufficient fund checks at their business. A Commercial Burglary report was taken.

A Loss Prevention Agent for Macy’s, located in the Village Shopping Center in Corte Madera, reported a known shoplifter was in the men's shoe department. The male subject left the store after making a purchase and also stealing a pair of shoes. The vehicle was located leaving the area and a traffic stop was made on the vehicle. The occupants, a Pinole resident and a Richmond resident were contacted. The Corte Madera Fire Department responded for the Pinole man complaining of shortness of breath and chest pain. After he was transported to the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room for a medical checkout, the Pinole man was arrested for Commercial Burglary, Petty Theft with a Prior Conviction for Petty Theft and Possession of Burglary Tools. He was booked at the Marin County Jail. The Richmond resident was sent on his way after being identified as it could not be determined if he was involved in the theft.

CMPA Officers responded to the 20 block of Redwood Ave. in Corte Madera for a subject reporting he is 27 years old, has been sleeping in car for the past couple of hours, called his mom, she didn't answer and he is very concerned. The subject sounded confused as he couldn’t find his mother who is visiting a friend at an apartment in the area, but he didn’t know the address. Officers contacted the subject who was determined to have an outstanding warrant held by the San Francisco Police Department. A San Francisco man was arrested for the warrant. At the time of arrest, the subject was found to be in possession of a handgun that had been reported as stolen to the Emeryville Police Department. He was booked at the Marin County Jail for the warrant and Possession of Stolen Property.

The manager of a store in the Bon Air Shopping Center in Greenbrae reported a customer who is known to them took approximately $60 worth of merchandise without paying for it. He stated this is an ongoing problem with that customer. It was determined a second customer, who uses the same address as the other customer, also stole merchandise. A Shoplift report was taken and there is further investigation pending.
