Chickens And Bees Are Back In Town Hall

The Corte Madera Town Council will consider a new zoning ordinance during Tuesday's meeting and will vote on who will be mayor.

One of the most intensely-discussed topics in Corte Madera Town Hall this year has been — yes, the birds and bees.

The Corte Madera Town Council is edging closer and closer to adopting a finalized version of a proposed zoning ordinance that would allow residents to keep bee hives and chickens in their yards. The Planning Comission was worked for months to iron out the details of the ordinance before passing it on to the Town Council.

The Town Council will consider the proposal as part of Tuesday's meeting. Open session begins at 7:30 p.m.

There will likely be some changes in Corte Madera's leadership during Tuesday's meeting. Alexandra Cock and Bob Ravasio both won re-election to the Town Council in the Nov. 8 election, but now the Town Council must vote who will be mayor.

Cock has hinted already she expects to hand over the reins of the mayor's office and is even planning a Mexican vacation soon.
