Community Remembers Former Mayor Dunn Killed in Ferrari Crash

Robert Dunn and 16-year-old Dylan Barry were killed in a crash on Highway 1 Saturday.

Former Corte Madera Mayor Robert Dunn will be remembered by some for his love of basketball and contributions to the community. 

in Sonoma County after their Ferrari ran off the road, hit a tree and burst into flames Saturday, April 13. 

Dunn served on the Corte Madera Town Council from 1978-1984 and served mayor twice in 1980 and 1983. He was also a long-time board member on the Corte Madera Community Foundation, which provides grants to community programs, projects and organizations.

Dunn was a former partner at Cooper White & Cooper in San Francisco and earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, according to Lawpress Corporation. He went on the the Harvard Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude. 

Current Corte Madera Mayor Diane Furst said Dunn was deeply involved in the local community.

"The deaths of Bob Dunn and Dylan Barry are truly a great loss for our community. Not only was Bob a former councilmember and mayor, but he contributed in many other ways to the vitality of Corte Madera's business community and civic organizations. And Dylan was known as a nice kid, who was just starting out in life," she said. "We are deeply sorry that this tragedy occurred, and our hearts go out to their family at this difficult time."

Barry was a sophomore at Redwood High School in Larkspur. He was Dunn's wife Linda's nephew; the Dunns were raising him. 

A candlelight vigil was held Monday evening at Redwood High School. 

Dunn recently became a first-time grandfather, Furst said. 

Dunn is survived by his wife Linda and his sons Christopher and Geoffrey.
