Designing Larkspur's SMART Station

Have your say about the future train station during tonight's workshop.

Larkspur is the end of the line for SMART, but what will train passengers find there?

The Citizen Advisory Committee will host a workshop for the Larkspur SMART Station Area Plan on Monday, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the community room at 300 Drakes Landing Road, next to Jason's Restaurant.

Folks are invited to discuss ideas for potential land use for the area surrounding the future Larkspur SMART train station. At issue will be parking, pedestrian and bicyclist access and what kind of developments should be included around the station.

The SMART rail line is set up to be an alternative to Highway 101 traffic between Santa Rosa and San Rafael. The first phase is expected to develop stations in San Rafael and Novato. The second phase of the project includes plans to extend the line north to Cloverdale and south to Larkspur.

The Larkspur station is slated for the Larkspur Landing area. A pedestrian bridge is also scheduled to be built there, crossing over Sir Francis Drake Boulevard to link travel between the train and Golden Gate Ferry.
