Phase 2 For The Village Expansion Plans

The Corte Madera Town Council meets Tuesday to look at the designs for Nordstrom and Macy's.

It's gone through the Planning Commission — twice — and now the Corte Madera Town Council weighs in on the expansion plans for The Village during Tuesday's meeting.

Nordstrom is hoping to expand its Corte Madera store by 17,000 square feet. The plans never met with any real objections from the Planning Commission, but Nordstrom was asked to come back with a few modifications to make the plans more environmentally friendly. The designers met with the Planning Commission for the second time last week and now come before the Town Council.

The plan includes bigger parking spaces, a new cafe and some reconfiguration of the existing space in the store.

Macy's is also preparing for a 20,000 square foot expansion, but that won't happen just yet. Town officials have said they hope the expansion will include improvements to the pedestrian access along the Tamalpais overpass.
