School Measures Get Quick Boost, Hang On For Big Wins

Final returns are in and the bond measures on the Corte Madera ballot for the local schools and a parcel tax for paramedics win.

The final numbers are in and three bond measures in Corte Madera all got passing grades.

Measure A for the Larkspur-Corte Madera School District got a huge win with 2,606-1,096 votes with all 10 precincts reporting. The school district is looking to build a third school to combat overcrowding.

Another school bond, Measure B for the Tamalpais Union High School District, cruised with 17,570-6,703 with all 78 precincts reporting.

"I'm pro-school," said Duke, a Corte Madera resident, who rushed to deliver his ballot 5 minutes before the polls closed at 8 p.m. "I wasn't feeling strongly about any of the candidates. I voted mostly on the measures."

Measure C, which would renew a parcel tax to help pay for paramedic services, was a clear winner 2,026-439.

Measure C had the support of Corte Madera's Town Council members and several of its prominent citizens.
