See Who's Pulled Candidate Nomination Papers So Far for the Nov. 5 Election

Newcomers and incumbents have started pulling nomination papers to serve on the Larkspur City Council, Corte Madera Town Council and the Larkspur-Corte Madera School District Board of Trustees.

The nomination period for the Nov. 5 election opened on Monday, and candidates have already started taking out and filing documents to run as candidates on local city, town and county boards.

In Larkspur there are three open seats for the Larkspur City Council, with the terms of Mayor Dan Hillmer, Councilmember Len Rifkind, and Councilmember Brad Marsh all expiring this year. Both Hillmer and Rifkind have pulled nomination papers for another four-year term, said City Clerk Cynthia Huisman

Corte Madera has three open seats on the Town Council, with the terms of Mayor Carla Condon, Vice-mayor Michael Lappert, and Councimember Diane Furst expiring. So far, Condon has pulled papers, along with resident David Kunhardt, according to Interim Town Clerk Lisa Harper.

On the Larkspur-Corte Madera School District Board of Trustees, there are also three open seats for four-year terms. Members Sheri Mowbray and Phil Wade are leaving the board, School District Executive Assistant Mary Anne O’Keeffe said. Incumbent Susan Christman’s term is up, and she has already filed papers declaring her candidacy, as has Andrea Pierpont. Maya Tuve has been to the County Office of Elections to pull papers, but she hasn’t returned them yet. Candidates or their authorized representative may pick up and file Declaration of Candidacy forms at the Marin County Elections Office, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from July 15 to Aug. 9. The office is in Suite 121 of the Marin Civic Center Administration Building, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Aug. 9. If an incumbent does not file for office by then, the filing period will be extended for that office until 5 p.m. Aug. 14 for non-incumbent candidates only.
