Should Travelers Be Allowed to Make Cellphone Calls on Planes?

Do you like the idea of using your cellphone when flights are above 10,000 feet?

By Chris Helms

The Federal Communications Commission is considering lifting the ban on air passengers using cellphones in flight.

If the idea of fellow passengers yakking on their phones makes you want to yak, you're not alone.

Even if the FCC does allow phone use above 10,000 feet it's far from certain airlines will choose to let it happen on their planes.

Maybe airlines will take a page from the train industry, which has already introduced "quiet cars" for people who want to be spared their neighbor's inane conversations.

My bet? I foresee an extra fee for booking a "quiet flight."
