Special Meeting Regarding Rose Garden Project, Sanitary Rates

Larkspur City Council will also continue discussions on zero waste policies, the Doherty Drive construction and more.

Are you upset about your sewer rates? Well, so is the city of Larkspur, it seems.

The Larkspur City Council has scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 in part to craft a formal protest to planned rate increases for Ross Valley Sanitary District No. 1.

Also on the agenda for the special meeting is a conference with representatives of New Home Company regarding the former Niven property, a portion of which is expected to be dedicated to the City.

There have been a few suggestions from the public as to what should be done with the City's share of the land: a new library, open space, even a farm.

New Home Company is planning to develop the former nursery into a series of homes for the Rose Garden Project.

The City Council is slated to hold its regular meeting shortly after the conclusion of the special meeting. This includes two items continued from the April 4 meeting.

The City Council will continue its look at a zero waste ordinance as it applies to construction and demolition.

The City Council is also considering the bidding process for the road work on Doherty Drive. One question Councilman Dan Hillmer brought up at the last meeting was whether the entire construction area should be closed for the duration of the work, or whether one lane should be closed at a time, allowing for traffic to pass through.

Hillmer also asked whether it was possible to get bids comparing the cost of both scenarios.

New to the agenda is a review of the Piper Park Master Plan.
