In the not-too-distant future, TCPA could stand for Tri-Cities Police Authority.

Chief Todd Cusimano will update the Police Council Wednesday at 5 p.m. on the shared services agreement between the TCPA and San Anselmo Police. The meeting will be held at the new police headquarters in Larkspur.

At the last Police Council meeting when the shared services agreement was reviewed, Corte Madera Town Council member Carla Condon asked if the ultimate goal was a "Tri-Cities" Police Authority with Larkspur, Corte Madera and San Anselmo. Chief Cusimano said it would make sense from an operational standpoint, but that any move to consolidation would be up to city leaders. Condon agreed that it would be wise to investigate the benefits of an official consolidation.

When police were called to Jay Leone's Greenbrae home in January in response to a shooting and home invasion, the Twin Cities Police and San Anselmo Police responded, along with Marin County Sheriffs and California Highway Patrol.

The San Anselmo Police share dispatch services with the TCPA based in the new headquarters on Doherty Drive. With the partnership, the agencies were able to cut staff from 10 dispatchers to seven and go from two dispatch supervisors to one.

The two agencies also share one lieutenant and three captains under the agreement, which Chief Cusimano says has created a considerable savings for both agencies.
