Readers' Choice: Where's The Best Book Place?

Larkspur-Corte Madera Patch is calling on YOU the readers to help determine the best place in town to sit down with a good book.

With all the talk about whether or not the City of Larkspur should use a donated parcel of land as the future site of its new library, I got to wondering: Where do people go to read, buy, or browse books these days?

Here's a list of places around town where you can read or have someone read to you. If we missed your favorite book nook, let us know so we can add it.

Book Passage
Barnes & Noble
Corte Madera Library
Larkspur Library
Giggle
Pottery Barn Kids

We in the Twin Cities have two very popular but very different libraries — one older (Larkspur) and one more modern (Corte Madera). But how are we using these libraries? Do people still go to the library to read bound books? Or do people pick up e-readers, or check out videos from the library?

We also have some wonderful stores where children can enjoy storytime or adults can meet their favorite authors.

Book Passage might be relatively small but the Corte Madera icon has established itself as THE place for authors and fans to come together. Then there's Barnes & Noble, which has a big selection of modern and classic literature, plus e-readers.

Looking for something rare or a good deal on a book? Try one of the consignment stores around town — the treasure hunt might pay off.

While you're voting for your favorite clean, well-lighted place for books, let us know what makes it so special. And let us know your favorite book or author.
