What about actual affordable homes? We've put offers in on a few places only to be bumped by someone with an all cash offer! Why would someone with all CASH want a small starter home, why would they want dozens of them? Don't they know they are artificially inflating the home prices and multiple rental homes in the same community actually bring values down. It's extremely selfish and in the long term a very risky investment is such a small community. I'd love to own a home in the community that I work and spend most so much time.

I agree Brian. Are there some affordable home listings out there we could post? Real people want to know. Of course, the Sunset Magazine "Idea House" in Healdsburg would be a great place to live if some anonymous benefactor wanted to fork over $2.5M for the good of a deserving Patch editor!!!

It's a stunning house! Love it so much, actually there are a few, but they all seem to have some sort of repairs needed. I just did a search for homes under 400K no other criteria. There are 5 listed for sale, and 30 recently sold. I'm all for sweat equity, but foundation work and extreme rot are a little out of my area of expertise.
