Let's face it. If you intend to get published, you are going to need an agent. This class will teach you how to make that relationship one of value to the writer. We will discuss key issues in the agent-writer relationship, including: what is the role of the agent in trade publishing, techniques for finding the right agent, what an agent expects from you, what you should expect from an agent, how are agents compensated, agent engagement agreements, how to avoid bad agents. One student said "I liked Andy's style—timely, on task, focused, direct, funny…" Andy Ross is a literary agent in Oakland. He has been in the book business for 37 years. Before starting his agency in 2008, he was owner of Cody's Books in Berkeley for 30 years.
