Corte Madera REI — Winter Backcountry Travel-Safety & Survival Tips

Tonight, Mike Kelly, leader of the National Ski Patrol's Northern California Search and Rescue Team, will teach you how to best prepare for the potential hazards of winter backcountry travel. You'll find out the latest on accident prevention techniques, rescue fundamentals, and how to increase your chances of survival, should you get lost, or find yourself facing other unexpected emergencies, in the winter wilderness. Whether you're heading out for the day or overnight-on snowshoes, skis, or snowboard-come learn about the gear, skills, and knowledge essential for safe winter travel. Seating policy: If you register for any of our free in-store presentations, we will hold a seat for you until the scheduled start. If you do not arrive to claim your seat before this time, we will release it to the general public. Seating may be available at the door, even if registration is closed. 

Directions to Corte Madera Town Center Community Room: The community room is located across from Charles Schwab at the south end of the Town Center. Under the red and tan awning and through the glass doors, you can either take the stairs or the elevator. There is also a staircase outside. Go to the second floor and room 201.
