BRIAN K. KENNEDY, PhD
President and CEO, Professor, Buck Institute
Dr. Kennedy is internationally recognized for his research in the basic biology of aging and as a visionary committed to translating research discoveries into new ways of detecting, preventing and treating agerelated conditions. He leads a team of 19 principal investigators at the Buck Institute – all of whom are involved in interdisciplinary research aimed at extending healthspan, the healthy years of life. Kennedy earned his PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His pioneering work as a graduate student led to the discovery that Sirtuins (SIR2) – enzymes that allow cells to survive damage and delay cell death – are key factors in the aging process.

JOSEPH ANTOUN, MD
Adjunct Professor of Health and Public Policy, Buck Institute
Dr. Antoun is a cross-national/comparative health policy expert who will support the Buck Institute’s PhD program in aging, which is currently under development. Antoun was recently the Public Policy and Strategic Development Leader for Emerging and Developing Markets at Eli Lilly and Company. He is currently President and CEO of Health System Reform, S.A.L., a boutique consultancy aimed at improving public health through health policy. Dr. Antoun is also the Co-Director of the Center for Health Policy at the University of Chicago where he teaches Health Systems and Pharmaceutical Policy.
