Doyle, Rosenthal Earn Repeat All-MCAL Honors

Boys lacrosse stars join Shea Mathews of the girls lacrosse team as the lone Giants to earn first-team distinctions; 13 others get named to the second team in the four spring sports announcing awards.

Redwood High seniors Connor Doyle and Ben Rosenthal repeated as first-team all-league lacrosse players when the Marin County Athletic League announced its awards for four spring sports over the weekend.

Junior Shea Mathews was the only other Giant to earn first-team honors in the four sports, making the All-MCAL elite team in girls volleyball.

A total of 13 Redwood athletes were given second-team All-MCAL honors, including senior Daniel Balok, sophomore Max Friend and freshmen Patrick Tracey and Liam Bourke in boys lacrosse, and senior Niki Melka and juniors Sara Pope and Lauren Ott in girls lacrosse.

Marin Catholic senior lacrosse players Jake Newman and Nick Cherbero were among the first-team picks. Tommy Rooney, Eddie Berguer and Michael Podshadley were second-teamers and freshman Chris Hill earned an honorable mention.

The Wildcats' Sierra Perrella, KC Hill, Kirsten Yoche, Megan McCullough and Casey Jereb were picked to the girls lacrosse first team. Mara Loberg was tabbed for the second team and Sara Pedlar was an honorable mention.

Surprisingly, Redwood's powerful boys tennis team did not land anyone on the All-MCAL first team. and were second-team picks in singles, while and earned second-team distinctions in doubles.

and were placed on the Honorable Mention list.

Marin Catholic's Alex Wilson was picked for the second-team singles list.

In boys volleyball, Lucas Schornstein and Kevin Bohn made the second team, while and were Honorable Mention selections.

Marin Catholic's Dominic Strazulo and Sean Rohtla are among the boys volleyball first teamers. Kellen Biss was named to the second team, with Jordan Roggenbuck an Honorable Mention.
