Need Tech Assistance With That iPad? Help Is Here!

Around Town Jan. 30-31: Learn how to use that new gadget; cheer on your school on the basketball court; work up an appetite with a walk.

 

• Yearning for a taste of the islands? Drop by Book Passage with author Julia Flynn Siler on Monday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m.. She'll discuss her new book Lost Kingdom: Hawaii’s Last Queen, the Sugar Kings, and America’s First Imperial Adventure.

The Larkspur Walkers welcome you to join them on walks that start and finish at Piper Park. The group walks approximately 3 miles within an hour, and routes include some hills and easements staircases as well as level ground.  Meet at the east end of the parking lot, near the picnic area. Arrive 5 minutes early for easy warm-up exercises before the walk. If you would like to join the Larkspur Walkers, contact the Larkspur Recreation Department or come directly to Piper Park and ask for Nancy Spivey, leader of the group.

• Did someone give you an iPad for Christmas? Well, aren't you lucky. Now it's time to unlock all the tools in the iPad during a free class at the Corte Madera Public Library. Bring your iPad to the library on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. for a two-hour class that will detail how to get the most out of your new tech toy.

• Redwood High School's basketball teams host Terra Linda on Tuesday. The boys team will try for its third win in a row when the Giants (12-9 overall) tip off at 7:30 p.m. The girls (12-8), coming off Friday's win over Novato, take on the Trojans at 6 p.m.

• Marin Catholic visits San Rafael on Tuesday. On the boys' side, the Wildcats (17-4 overall) will try to put together back-to-back wins in the 7:30 p.m. nightcap. The girls (13-7), who play at 6 p.m., are on a four-game roll.
