The Giants' Matt Cain Throws a Perfect Game - Did You Watch?

Ace pitcher strikes out 14 of the 27 batters he faces in a 10-0 win over the Houston Astros Wednesday night. Did you watch?

San Francisco Giants' pitcher Matt Cain has made history.

The hurler, who signed a $127.5 million extension with the Giants in April, threw the first perfect game in the team's history Wednesday night at AT&T Park, retiring all 27 batters he faced in the Giants' 10-0 victory over the Houston Astros.

While no-hitters have come at a more frequent pace in recent years, perfect games — when no players on the oposing team reach base in any way — remain a rarity. Cain's feat, in which he struck out 14 of the 27 batters he faced, was only the 22nd perfect game in major-league history.

That there have been just 22 in over 140 years of baseball means that one occurs about every 11,000 games. Even if someone managed to watch 162 games per year every year, probability says they'd be lucky to see more than one perfect game every 68 years.

So that raises the question: Did you watch the game? In person or on TV? Have you ever seen a perfect game before? What did you think? Tell us in the comments!
