Wirta Earns All-MCAL First-Team Honors in Baseball
Last year's second-team selection as an outfielder gets promoted in 2011 as a designated hitter/utility player; Redwood teammates Casey Levy-Tulloch and Cal Becker make the second team.
's was selected to the first team in the balloting of coaches for the 2011 Marin County Athletic League all-league baseball teams.
Wirta, a senior, was picked as a designated hitter/utility player. He had been a second-team all-league selection as an outfielder last year.
Two Giants teammates were named to the All-MCAL second team: senior infielder and junior outfielder .

Joining Wirta on the All-MCAL first team were infielders Matt Mendelsohn of Novato, Kenny Rabin of Branson, Ryan Zirkle of San Marin and Parker Shaw, outfielders Connor Murphy of Marin Catholic, Travis Grossi of San Marin and Mark Wangeman of Justin-Siena, pitchers Al Geraldi of Marin Catholic and Nick Driscoll of San Marin, and catcher Jake Toll-McKillop of Terra Linda.
Marin Catholic senior Robb Woodcock was selected Pitcher of the Year, while San Marin junior Ryan Burke earned Player of the Year honors.
