Get Dad out of the house on Father's Day for some fun in the sun and great music. Treat him to the sweet sounds of Jazz Roots on Sunday during the Summer Music Series at the Town Center, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Can't get enough live music? How about relaxing in the park with the family, enjoying a picnic dinner, with the rocking music of Lazy Horse, covering songs by The Doors, The Beatles, The Kinks, Neil Young and the Rolling Stones
The Summer Concert Series, put on by the volunteers in the Corte Madera Community Foundation, begins on Father’s Day, June 17, 5 to 6 p.m. The free concerts are held at Piccolo Pavilion in Old Corte Madera Square, where Tamalpais Drive meets Corte Madera Avenue.
Here are a few other ways to celebrate the weekend. Happy Father's Day, Dad:
• Ventriloquist Steve Chaney and his sidekick Corny the Crow will visit the Larkspur Library to entertain children, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Please call (415) 927-5005 or email to reserve your spot.
• Come shop for local veggies, fruits, nuts, berries, pastured beef, pork, chicken and eggs at Marin Country Mart's farmers market every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Snatch up fresh Bodega Bay cracked crab, oysters, salmon and lots of other fantastic seafood.
• Art Reactor is kicking off the summer with Saturday's studio grand opening and gallery show at the Town Center at 6 p.m. Families, artists, teachers, students, and community members are welcome to be inspired by awesome student artwork in a true art gallery setting.
Also, see a preview of Mother's Milk, a soon to be released iPad art book. Filled with stunning imagery from professional Bay Area digital artists, Mother's Milk depicts scenes of motherhood ranging from fantasy realms to the far side of the galaxy.
The artists and organizers behind Mother's Milk have generously offered to sponsor Art Reactor in support of its vision to connect students with professional artists in the community.
