Weekend Planner: Golden Celebration In Corte Madera

The Golden Gate Brass Band comes to Piccolo Pavilion for a free concert Sunday; Cooking classes for the whole family at Williams-Sonoma.

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area August 18-19:

The Golden Gate Brass Band is planning a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge for Sunday, 5-6 p.m., with a free concert at the Piccolo Pavilion in Old Corte Madera Square.  “Musical Bridges to 1937” will include great standard tunes like “Happy Days Are Here Again” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz”.

Bring the family, a blanket or camp chairs for sitting on the grass, and maybe a picnic dinner.  Relax and enjoy live music with friends and neighbors.

Sit. Stay. Love.: Anthropologie is hosting an animal adoption and pet supply drive Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. That's just one of several weekend events at The Village shopping center.

• Kids Cook Breakfast: In this hands-on cooking lesson at Williams-Sonoma, kids will learn how to make English Muffin Pizza and Berries with Sweetened Yogurt while we also demonstrate how to make Crunchy Chewy Granola. The class will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a $10 fee per child, which will be donated to Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry® campaign. Reservations are required, please call (415) 924-6799.

• Making Meal Planning Easier: Williams-Sonoma on Sunday at 10 a.m. has invited young chefs Max and Eli Sussman to help families plan quick, easy and tasty weeknight meals. The class is free, but reservations are recommended.
