Hal Brown Park at Creekside: California Coastal Cleanup Day

9 a.m., Greenbrae
Join our county's volunteer event focused on the marine environment and its watershed. Marin County Parks will be cleaning litter and recyclables from Hal Brown Park at Creekside, Corte Madera Creek Multi-Use Pathway, and the surrounding area. Women's Council of Realtors-Marin 4th Annual Bocce Ball Tournament

The Women's Council of Realtors-Marin Chapter (WCR) presents the fourth annual Bocce Ball Tournament. Partial proceeds will go to Homeward Bound of Marin. Food and refreshments provided, along with bocce ball courts and tournament bracket (you can be as competitive or noncompetitive as you want).

Saturday, Sept. 21

Sale in Hospice Used Book Room at Book Passage Annex

9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Corte Madera

Shop Hospice by the Bay's Used Book Room, located in the Book Passage Annex, where the entire stock will be 50 percent off of already reduced prices. Choose from quality used fiction, mysteries, romances and children's books, plus used non-fiction on topics including cooking, biography, art, travel and self help. The Hospice Used Book Room is located at 51 Tamal Vista Blvd. in Corte Madera and open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds benefit nonprofit Hospice by the Bay's programs and compassionate care services.

Marin Waldorf School's Rummage Sale at Marinwood Community Farmers Market

9 a.m., San Rafael 

The Marin Waldorf School is having a rummage sale at Marinwood Plaza. They will be offering up gently used clothing, Halloween costumes, snow clothes, books, toys, board games, puzzles, furniture, appliances, sporting equipment, household items, collectibles, baby items, electronics and more. Wings Over Marin Airshow

10 a.m., Novato

“Meet Marin’s flying community and celebrate women in aviation at the Wings Over Marin Air Show Saturday, September 21, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. This family friendly event will take place at the Marin County Airport (Gnoss Field) in Novato, home to 295 aircraft, from bi-planes to private jets.”

Using the Whole Vegetable Cooking Demonstration & Book Signing

10:30 a.m., Larkspur

Tara Duggan will be visiting the farmers’ market on Saturday, September 21 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., to demonstrate how to cook one of her recipes. Tara is the author of Root-to-Stalk Cooking: The Art of Using the Whole Vegetable in which she describes how to utilize every part of a plant.

We Are Marin Festival

Noon to 5 p.m., Marin Civic Center

“This free, family-friendly afternoon event will feature local entertainment along with some popular Bay Area headliners. Bring a blanket or chair, enjoy picnic fare, meet your neighbors and delight in the sights and sounds of Marin.”

Coastal Cleanup Day at McInnis Park

1 p.m., San Rafael 

“Coastal Cleanup day is an annual event in California and around the country. Everyone helps keep waterways and shorelines clean. At the Gallinas Watershed volunteers will venture out onto Gallinas Creek to access trash in marshy areas and creek banks. We have fun cleaning up the creek with canoes, kayaks and rowboats, pulling the trash out as we go.Come and volunteer with or without a boat. If you can ride in a kayak or canoe, you can help the cleanup. For more info call GWC (415) 578-2580.”

Oktoberfest, Mill Valley

9 p.m., Mill Valley

“Celebrating in the tradition of Munich, Bavaria’s famed festival, Tam Valley’s colorful, Oktoberfest celebration is a community event which will include music by Deutscher Musikverein of San Francisco, Big Lou Accordian Princess and The Golden Gate Bavarian Club. The event will also include dancing German food and beer. Wear your lederhosen and join in this family fun event.”

Drake Terrace by Kisco Senior Living Fundraising for Alzheimers During 2013 National Active Aging Week

6 p.m., San Rafael 

The focus at Drake Terrace during Active Aging Week will be to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association with the help of the resident volunteer fundraising committee.  The events will begin on Sunday, September 22, with a Walking Club Kickoff. Click here to see the week’s scheduled events.
