Former COM Instructor Passes Away at 74

Carter Cary Hanner traded the classroom for a farm in Southern Oregon, where he was surrounded by family.

Former College of Marin instructor Carter Cary Hanner passed away March 23, 2012. He was 74. He spent his final years with his family in Southern Oregon, according to the Mail Tribune. He is survived by his wife Molly, daughters Laura Cary Hanner, Gilly Ann Hanner, Megan Suzanne Hanner, his father Alan Hanner and sister Martha Ann Hanner.

Pamela Auer: 1944-2012

Redwood grad passes away at age 67 after battle with brain cancer.

Friends who knew Pamela Auer remember how she went through life with a feeling of peace and optimism, right up until her death recently at age 67, reported by the Topanga Messenger, which she co-founded. She had been battling brain cancer for the past three years. Auer is survived by her husband Steve, daughters Stephanie and Roxane, and 1-year-old grandson Emory. Auer, who attended Redwood High School from 1959-1962, graduated from UC Berkeley in 1966 with a degree in Sociology. She pursued a passion for caring for animals and the environment and also a career in film making. She worked on Code Talkers, a documentary about Navajo soliders during World War II who developed a code system. Donations in Auer's name can be made to Sea Shepherd…
