Larkspur, Corte Madera Get Reading

Sept. 10-11: Book clubs and music keep us entertained.

Sing a song: Do you want to join the Dominican University Winifred Baker Chorale? Drop by Tuesday for rehearsal at Angelico Concert Hall. Please arrive by 6:30 p.m. to register and purchase music. New members are always welcome. An audition is required for those who did not participate in the chorus this past season. Participants are expected to match pitch readily, have some music reading skill and choral singing experience. Please call 415-482-3579 to schedule an audition. The first performance is Friday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m.

Children's story times: Why not take the young children out for a walk and even an adventure. There are a handful of places that offer free story times. The Larkspur Library hosts story time for babies and toddlers Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Each Tuesday at 10 a.m. the Pottery Barn at the Village Center in Corte Madera hosts the Pottery Barn Kids Book Club. Kids of all ages can come in for a story time reading. Also, Corte Madera Public Library brings in Mother Goose every Tuesday at 11 a.m. for story time with children up to 24 months old.

Book Group: Pat Holt begins a five-week discussion Tuesday of contemporary literature at Book Passage in Corte Madera. The group starts at 10:30 a.m. Books to be discussed include State of Wonder, Song of Achilles, Sense of an Ending, The Language of Flowers, and Salvage the Bones. Holt is the former book review editor of the San Francisco Chronicle and publisher of Holt Uncensored.

Prop 37 would have exempted "organic" food from the labeling requirement. What sense doesRead More that make? (Answer: none.)
