Larkspur Poetry Night On Tuesday

Around Town June 5-6: The literary scene in the Twin Cities is heating up.

Need a break from politics on Election Night? Well, poetry night might help drown out some of the campaign rhetoric.

The Larkspur Library presents the Marin Poetry Center Traveling Poetry Show on Tuesday, from 7-8:30 p.m. Barbara Brooks will host local Marin poets, Claire J. Baker, Lynn Ireland, Sim Warkov, Ann Robinson, Gini Savage, and Cynthia Sims. The poets will be reading selections from their own work.

• Are you caring for someone with a serious illness or disability? Join the members of the Attitudinal Healing peer support group on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Greenbrae. Take some time to share your feelings, thoughts, and fears, and give and receive support.

• Have you always wanted to write but weren’t sure where to begin? Be inspired by Leslie Keenan's 28 years of experience in helping people uncover and release their ideas. Keenan's four-week class at Book Passage in Corte Madera begins Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m. The fee is $155. Keenan has worked on over 80 published books. She knows what it takes to get a book from the first glimmer of an idea into its published form.

• There's still time to get a good deal on strawberries by the bunch. I've seen boxes of the red gems for $12 at the Corte Madera farmers market in the Town Center. The market sets up every Wednesday, from noon to 5 p.m.
