Try this recipe for asparagus, a tasty treat which is starting to show up at local markets.

Here are a couple other things to do this week:

• Enjoy the adventure of kayaking southeast Alaska, without all the hassle of packing, cold weather and dangerous animals. Visit REI in the Town Center on Wednesday, March 28, from 7-8 p.m. for a scenic and exciting presentation. And, if you feel like heading to snow country after that, you can pick up everything you need at the store.

• Join Zoya Pinto at the Larkspur Library on Thursday March 29 at 7 p.m. for a scenic presentation of his native Slovenia. Pinto will introduce us to Ljubljana (the vibrant political and cultural capital of Slovenia), Ptuj (a town dating back to the Stone Age), and the year-round resorts of Bled and Bohinj lakes.

The presentation is part of the Larkspur Library’s Armchair Lectures Series coordinated by Dimensions in Travel. This talk is a lively, friendly opportunity to have your questions answered and gain insight about Slovenia.
