What's Your Best Farmers Market Find?

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area August 28-29:

Heirloom tomatoes, fall fruits and melons are all on center stage at the local farmers markets right now. The Town Center explodes with color during the Corte Madera Farmers Market every Wednesday, from noon to 5 p.m.

The weekly farmers market also includes fish, meat and poultry dealers and prepared foods. In the mood for some fresh salsa to go with those tortilla chips? Here's the place to get it all.

• How to best see the Northern Lights: Rea Franjetic wraps up her six-week class with travel tips for Northern Europe. Learn the best way to get around and the must-see destinations from Germany to the Arctic, Russia and Iceland. The class will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Book Passage in Corte Madera. The fee is $25.

• Walk For Fun, Exercise: The Larkspur Walkers welcome you to join them Tuesday morning for a walk that starts and finishes at Piper Park. The group walks approximately 3 miles within an hour, and routes include some hills and easements staircases as well as level ground.  Meet at the east end of the parking lot, near the picnic area. Arrive 5 minutes early for easy warm-up exercises before the walk. If you would like to join the Larkspur Walkers, contact the Larkspur Recreation Department or come directly to Piper Park. There is a $15 fee.

• Children's Story Time: Sit down at the Corte Madera Library with your youngsters every Wednesday for storytimes. There's a session for toddlers at 10 a.m. and one for preschoolers at 11 a.m.
