Marin Country Mart Countinues Redesign

Larkspur Planning Commission meets Tuesday; school concerts this week; and more activities around the Twin Cities.

Here are some of the highlights happening around the Larkspur and Corte Madera Twin Cities area Dec. 10-11:

Design changes to an existing commercial building at the Marin Country Mart shopping center are on the agenda for Tuesday's Larkspur Planning Commission meeting, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The plan is to paint the building white with grey trim and to add roof-mounted skylights, among other changes.

The agenda also includes proposed changes to three Larkspur residences.

If you have an event or announcement coming up you'd like to share, please post it on Patch. It's free!

• Holiday Music Series: The Tomales High School Pan Bad will perform at The Village shopping center on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to noon. The concert is one in a series of musical events at The Village through Dec. 20.

• Winter Concert at Hall School: The gym at Hall Middle School will be filled with the sounds of music, thanks to the student beginning and intermediate bands and intermediate jazz band, during Tuesday's Winter Concert at 7 p.m.

• Build a Gingerbread House: Making gingerbread people cookies is a family tradition. Now families can get some help making gingerbread houses — normally a difficult architectural task. Visit Gingerbread Builders at The Village in Corte Madera for the workshop this week and join in the fun — without the mess. Prices vary from $31-$49 per kit.

• Children's Storytime: Let's not forget how reading is FUNdamental for children, too. There are a variety of reading groups for young children and their parents around town. Mother Goose is on the loose at the Corte Madera Library every Tuesday at 10 a.m. for storytime for babies 0-24 months old, with a parent or caregiver. The Larkspur Library offers fun for babies and toddlers, with songs, fingerplays, nursery rhymes and very short stories just right for this age group. Pottery Barn Kids, Barnes & Noble Booksellers and Book Passage also offer children's storytimes.

The design changes made so far to the ill named Marin Country Mart have been surprisingly pleasant. Hope they continue to not offend.

Dear Jeanene. Thanks for pointing this out. You go to www.cityoflarkspur.org/recreation then look atRead More Programs and either type in App Camp or 428. Please post again to confirm it works. Hi Claire, I did find the info, but we don't qualify on the age requirement. He is only 10, will beRead More 11 in January. Also, there is a prerequisite for web design. I hope you will hold this again next year when he is old enough and we would like to prepare him. Can you be more specific on the prerequisites? Thanks. Jeanene

Thanks Jeanene. The age guideline is a good guide as children really need to have done algebra toRead More understand coding. There are some great new apps to help younger children start programming. I'll be posting an article on this on my kidscontent.co.uk website soon and via @clairecomins on twitter. Keep in touch and please do spread the word about AppCamp so it can happen again! Thanks, Claire
