Corte Madera Delegate Joins Raucous Fun At Caucus

Jan O'Brien shares some of her experiences from a Women's Caucus during the Democratic National Convention.

"Forward, not backward," chanted the ladies gathered at a women's caucus to hear First Lady Michelle Obama speak during the Democratic National Convention.

Political analysts have predicted the women's vote will be a major factor in deciding who will win the November election.

“The swing group of married mothers is critical for the Republicans because the Obama advantage among single women is so large,” said Ange-Marie Hancock, associate professor of political science and gender studies at the University of Southern California in a Bloomberg Businessweek article.

Jan O'Brien, a Corte Madera mom, is carrying the banner this week for local Democrats — literally — as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. She is regularly e-mailing photos and commentary to Larkspur-Corte Madera Patch from the DNC.
